Starting today all new annual passes will be paper and use biometrics rather than a picture on a plastic card. If you already have a plastic annual pass, you will be able to keep it as long as you continue to renew and don't lose it. The only new APs that will be plastic will be the Premier AP.

So is Universal trying to mimmick everything that Disney does wrong? Paper AP's = lame.

Well if they were truly trying to mimic Disney, why did they wait 5 years to do it?

do they look different than the one day passes? the disney and busch passes are a slight pain in the butt, because the cm's and tm's have to examine them when you present them for discounts and parking.

Yea. How is the parking going to be handled on the paper passes? Yesterday when I went through the toll booth, the guy ducked his head down to look at me because he couldn't see me to verify I was the actual passholder. (I pulled in with the booth to the passenger side).

Aww.. that sucks. I love my plastic AP.
I agree. I need to make sure to renew on time and don't lose the one I have now.

So, phamton, what you're telling me is you're not going to take my picture in February? :sad1:

No picture. You'll go to Guest Services to process your AP.

Wow, sounds like we missed this by a few days, and I'm glad we did! We just got our pic APs processed, and they're good till 12/13/08. We had a large family in front of us who took what seemed like forever to go through the entrance because none of their finger scans worked correctly the first time. We were at the HRC entrance to the studios, and almost walked to the main entrance instead because they took sooooo long.

You'll still have to biometrics with your plastic AP. The only AP that doesn't need biometrics now are the Premier AP.

CMs never look at my pass closely for parking. They always wave me right through.

the old plastic with the bar code on the bottom will remain good as long as you continue to renew it within a specified period before or after renewal. thank goodness i renewed mine in time on 12/3/06

i agree, at the current time the biometric thing is slow and frustrating :smooth:

You'll still have to do biometrics with your plastic AP but at least you'll have a more durable AP.

Good to know, I upgraded to the Premier AP (loving the free valet!!) and may get DH to do the same.

Editing to say WooHoo it's my 1000th post

No biometrics connected with mine so far :smooth:

It has begun MIB999999. Be ready for it the next time you go.

My pass just expired and I went ahead and got the Premier pass, I also now have to go through biometrics, but unlike Disney, I usually have to do it two or three times before it reads my fingerprint correctly. It's a big pain.
