Annual pass vs. Flex pass??

We will be in California for 10 days - March 14 - 24. So, I am trying to decide what tickets we will want for the parks.

I was thinking of five day passes and using them for three days at DL and two days at DCA. One day we will spend at Universal Studios. So, that still leaves several open days. And, what if we really want to visit the parks on one or more of those days?!?

Anyway, looked at the Disneyland site and they only offer 1, 3 or 4 day passes. A 4-day Flex pass is $139 and (from my understanding) you can only visit ONE of the parks each day - they are NOT hopper passes.

Well, an annual pass is only $199. So, my thinking is that I may as well buy annual passes. That way, we can hop between parks if we want (right??) and can visit EVERY day if we would like - even if it's only for a short time that time.

My dh is only going to be with us for the first five days, so I will probably just get him a three day pass. But, for the kids and me, I'm thinking an annual pass would be the way to go. From looking on the DL site, it looks as though the only "blackout" dates for the passes while we are there is Saturday. Quite frankly, I was not planning on going to DL on Sat anyway!

Just wanted others opinions about the annual pass and these specific questions answered (can't find the answers at disneyland.com):

1. Are the adult and children's annual pass rates the same or is the children's rate a little cheaper?

2. Are annual pass holders eligible for "early entry" into the parks or is this only for FLEX passholders?

3. Will we be able to use our pass and visit both Disneyland and California Adventure in the same day (park hop)?

Sorry to bring you bad news. . . The $199 annual pass is only for DL, it's $299 for both parks and no they do not let you in for EE w/ the annual passes. :( Good luck w/ the rest of your planning :)

Actually, the DL site says that for Premium Annual Passports (NO blackout dates) the rate for DL only is $199 and "2-park" is $299.

But, for the Deluxe Annual Passports (with 230 pre-selected days) the rate for DL only is $139 and "2-park" is $199.

Since the only blackout date while we are there is Saturday, I don't care because I wouldn't want to visit the park on Sat anyway due to the LARGE crowds.

But, I was afraid that the Annual passes would not be eligible for "early entry." I still think it might be a better deal since we would have so many more days to actually visit the parks, it wouldn't matter if we missed early entry.

I just wanted to let you know they do offer a 5 day flex pass. It's $167 for adults and $129 for kids age 3-9. It includes 1 early admission and 1 breakfast. I found this out by calling the phone number on the ticket page at disney.com. The phone number is 714-520-5055. With these passes you are not guaranteed admission to DCA every day. I think she said they will only guarantee one day out of the 5. The lady I talked to said the park capacity is 26,000 for DCA versus 80,000 for DL. She said if you want to go to DCA you need to get there EARLY! That is the reason you can't park hop because of the differences in park capacity. The only way you can hop is if you are staying at one of the disney hotels. Hope this helps.
