Annual pass upgrade - can I upgrade from a gold to go over Christmas?

My daughter has an Annual Pass she used for two trips in June. I am considering a trip the week after Christmas. This would be during the blackout date for her pass. Can she upgrade when we arrive to allow her to use the pass? Would it be the difference between the gold and platinum?

You can upgrade at anytime while at WDW. You would pay the difference between what you paid for the pass you currently have and the current retail price of the pass you want. If the current pass was purchased at the renewal rate, the upgrade will also be based on the renewal rate of the new pass level.

If she is a DVC member, she is in luck. Currently there is a DVC ticket promotion - and the Platinum Plus Pass is only $559. If she bought a gold pass, she can upgrade it for free or for about $10, depending on what she paid. If she isn't a DVC member, she can pay the difference and upgrade to a Platinum Pass (no blackout dates) which costs $830 - so she would have to pay the difference between that and what she paid for her gold pass.
