In this morning's Tampa Bay Times there was an article on Disney raising AP prices and what each entailed.

According to the graphic in the article, Discounts on Resort stays are only available to those with a Platinum or Platinum Plus AP. Minimum price point for that is $649 for a FL resident, $749 for everyone else.

This is the first I've heard of discounts being based on your level of AP but it strikes me as something that the bean counters would just love.

And it totally sucks.

I'm a FL resident with a Seasonal AP. I usually go for 2-5 nights 3 or 4 times a year, often solo, with an AP or FL resident discount. I don't think that's going to be happening in the future.

Combined with the 50% increase in Table in Wonderland, I think it's time to explore other vacation options.

Here's a link to the article. The info about Resort discounts is in the graphic near the bottom.

Platinum

Admission to four Walt Disney World theme parks, ability to go from park to park on the same day with no blackout dates, plus theme park parking, photos, special offers for stays at Disney Resort hotels, various park discounts.

Maybe they were just referring to out-of-state only, since they can only get Platinum and Platinum Plus?

Otherwise that would suck for FL residents who don't have those passes.

Edit: Just read the article and you are right, it looks like only Platinum and Platinum Plus. Has anyone been able to confirm this from Disney officially though?

Good catch. Let's hope that's an error or omission.

Disney's official site does show ALL levels getting discounts:

Agreed. Just checked passholder page with all levels of AP offering "Special discounts and limited-time offers for resort stays, dining, merchandise and more".

OP here--

Putting on my pessimist hat, I can see Disney tiering their discounts based on the type of pass you have. They tier the discounts based on the level resort you're staying at, why not tier the discount based on your AP level and the resort you're staying at?
