Annual pass replaced with Membership for DL and AP returning by October

Hold up!

Imagine Key

$399
(Only available for Southern California Residents living in zip codes 90000 to 93599)

So cheapest out of state is $649 (around $725 with tax)
also looks like park hopper on 1 reservation

Enchant Key

$649
  • Reservation-based admission to one or both theme parks select days of the year.
  • Hold up to 4 theme park reservations at a time*
  • 10% off select merchandise**
  • 10% off select dining**

The "no show" policy is very interesting
Along with the expiration if not activated within 1 year of purchase:
A Pass will expire if it is not activated within one (1) year from the date of purchase, and upon expiration, such expired Pass may no longer be activated or have park reservations scheduled for it, and any existing park reservations for such Pass will be cancelled. No refunds will be given.

ETA: This is very different from current WDW APs.

I’m really bummed with those blockout calendars. $650 with no weekends in October? 😢

This is a little confusing - Does park hopping use two reservations?

"Magic Key holders who have a park reservation for both theme parks may cross over and switch between parks on the same day beginning at 1:00 PM."
"Magic Key holders who have a park reservation for both parks must enter the first park as designated in their park reservation prior to visiting the other park. At this time, a park reservation is not required after visiting the first park; however, reservation requirements are subject to change."

there is no tax on amusement park tix in CA, so for DL, cost is the $649.

Has anyone seen a comment on how far out you can book a park reservation? The leaked information from earlier today mentioned 90 days but I don’t see any comment in the official info.

Looking at it as an out-of-stater in both CA and FLA. Essentially it's equivalent to WDW APs with a touch of Tables (15% instead of 20%) thrown in at the top end, with the ability to scale down.

Was there any mention of on property hotel reservations? Not as much of a thing out there though.

Not sure what that means for WDW though...

No - I think the financing / payment plan is only available to certain residents. But there is no restriction on who can buy the pass itself. Unless I’m reading it wrong.

Scott Gustin is reporting at WDW will begin selling Annual Passes ahead of the 50th anniversary celebration. He’s a very reliable source and typically gets his info directly from Disney as a member of the media.

Edited to add: DisneyFoodBlog also reporting the WDW AP news.

We are eligible to buy a recovery AP since ours were canceled during the lockdown. I had decided to hold off on buying one since we aren't sure we are going to keep our reservation later this year. Now I don't know if I should hurry up and let Disney hold my money for years to come just in case the WDW news is bad. Disney always makes it complicated....

I purchased recovery APs for my family. I have 3 Platinum vouchers in my MDE that have expiry dates of Dec 31, 2099 lol. My logic was that they offered the passes at 2019 pricing and the devil I know is better than the devil I don’t (2021 pricing lol)

So what was the point of getting rid of DL original AP? To add in park reservation requirements and upcharge for parking?

That's what I understood it to mean. Now how easy is it going be to book reservations? Sounded like WDW it was tough to get in all the parks but that was maybe due to COVID restrictions?
