Annual Pass renewal question

I'm trying to decide if I should renew my annual pass (hoping to be able to go to HHN next year, but moneywise might not be able to swing it) and had a couple of questions. It expires on October 31, how long after that do I have to renew it? And if I do renew it will then expire on October 31, 2015 correct? Can you use the pass on the day it expires or is the day before the actual last day of use? My tentative plan is to go at the end of October next year, but if I can't use it on the 31st it might be better to wait and just get a new one.

you have up to 30 days to renew as of the expiration date.
the renewal date will start on day it expires.

last date you can use it, if not renewing, will be oct 31st.

which ap do you have?

i have the preferred and find it is cheaper to renew with the discount that is applied to it.
comes to about $170.34 for me.


sometimes i can get the ap for room discounts, sometimes i go with smsm, which ever is lower.
but, i use it for every place i can for the 10% discount which makes me come out ahead.
the ap hhn tickets are cheaper with the ap i have.
i am there for 12 days usually and for park entrance alone, well worth it.
when i do two trips a year, i'm using the pass for 17 park days entrance.

Not to hijack the thread but I have a related question ... can I renew by phone or online or do I have to do in park? Can they just change the expiration date on my current AP or do I have to get a new card?

i usually renew by phone but it can be done online.

my ap is the older photo ones (1993) on a plastic card.
once i pay the renewal fee, it is updated and i do nothing else.
i keep the same ap card.

Are the AP's paper cards or plastic? (we just bought ours for the first time, but we don't pick up or activate them until May)

Just curious. We'll get lanyards either way.

ap's are paper.


the ones issued many years back are the size of a credit card.
this is what i have and at the time they were issued, your photo was on the card.

they are only replaced with the tyvek paper ones when the old plastic ones are no longer readable.
