Annual Pass Question

I'm looking into getting annual passes for our upcoming trip this summer. Does anyone know if the meter starts to run on the date of purchase or the date of first entry. If it's the date of purchase I'll wait until closer to our trip to get them, that way we may be able to get another trip in.

Date of first use/entry at the park gates. Important to know that since parking won't be free unless it's activated at the park gate.

Thank you. SeaWorld's site clearly says from date of purchase, but I looked all of the Universal site and couldn't find it.

Off to get some annual passes.
