Annual Pass question

Trying to finalize tickets for trip - here's my queries:

*Annual Pass. I assume there are no discounts for this currently? Need to get 1 AP for self.

* Is there a difference in price for AP purchased on-line versus at gate?

* If there is no benefit in price on-line versus gate - do I save myself any time at all by getting AP online now? (I am assuming - if memory serves the last time I got an AP - that I will have to go to customer services anyway to have AP generated anyway... last time they took pic, etc. Still same process?)

Universal needs to fix their website, too - it's difficult to get AP pricing info as a non-Florida resident. Keeps defaulting to Florida resident page. Gotta come into the page from the back-door, so to speak. Or at least, that's how it behaved for me....

There is a link for non-resident annual passes on the right hand side of the florida resident annual pass page.

There are no current annual pass specials. I wouldn't anticipate any with the HP boom.

There are no photos on APs anymore, so it doesn't really matter how you do it. I don't believe there are any price differences at the gate.

Based on the pass there are discounts. They rage between:

Food:10-15%
Merch:10-20% but not on WWOHP
Hotels: Up to 30%
Free self parking.
*Free Valet parking for the Premiere non peak event
10-15% off other peoples tickets (not AP)

Annual passes are already discounted so additional discounts are not available.

I just wanted to confirm.....there is no merchandise discount in the WWoHP, but what about food inside the WWoHP? Like if you were to get Butterbeer at the Hog's Head Pub?

Would you be able to get a discount on WWoHP merchandise at the Universal Studios Store (the huge store on Production Central)?

the preferred annual pass discount gives:
10% on food and merch in the parks and city walk.
up to 30% on hotels.
you can buy discounted park tickets and hard event tickets (6) for friends.
free parking after the first visit.

the premiere annual pass has a higher discount but cost more.

There IS a discount on Potter merchandise? I havent been with an AP while that section has been open but everything I read said no. I believe you 100% but why on earth are they advertising that it doesn't receive the benefits when it does?

You have to pay parking at the hotel. It only covers the parking at the parking deck.. This is one think I wish would change but oh well. I know you can get normal tickets at the hotel, each as a kiosk, but I'm not sure if you can do the annual passes there. Considering they no longer have your picture etc, I wouldn't see why not- but I have never done it.

Since the resorts are not owned by Universal, you still have to pay to park at the hotels. APs need to be activated at the gate so you might as well just plan on picking them up at the parks.
