Annual pass question

I have received contradicting information from Universal reps about the annual pass, so I figured I would ask the experts on the DIS. Thanks in advanced for your help!

We are going to the Studios in December. I bought an annual pass for myself using flexpay in November 2009, that I have not used, thinking that it expired a year after the first use. I just purchased annual passes for my wife and daughter last month and when reading the agreement it seemed that the pass expired one year after purchase. I called the annual pass line last month and spoke with a person that told me the pass did in fact expire a year after purchase and I would be charged 21.00 dollars per month until I canceled the pass, but the pass was still valid. No big deal I should have read the fine print. Today while balancing my bank account I notice the charge for my wife and daughters passes cleared my account, but not the charge for my pass. I called annual pass services to confirm that my pass would work when we get there next month and the person that answered the phone told me my pass still valid, because I have not used it yet.

So, my question is...

Does the annual pass, paid using flexpay, expire after the first use or after the date purchased?

Should be after first-use. I bought flex APs a couple months ago and didn't use until late October. There's probably some limit to how long you can hold before activating at first-use, but I imagine it's quite long.
