I have premium annual passes that expires at the end of November. We will be at the World in early October. The question is can I renew these to regular annual passes, and how would I do that.

And to address any concerns I have 2 trips planned for inside the next year, and also have a DS-1 who will turn 3 just after these renewed passes would expire, so it would give us a clean slate to start on with new passes for all in 2013, so yes renewing and saving the couple of bucks is the right thing, I just don't know how to downgrade to regular, and renew without being there.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I am a DVC member looking to take advantage of the DVC discount.

When you go to the window to renew just tell them you want just the "regular" AP, it won't be a problem. I downgraded from Premier to regular this year.

The window to renew is only 30 days before, or 30 days after, I will not be there in that window, is there a number to call, or a place to do this on-line?

You can renew up to 60 days prior and 30 days after the expiration date your AP.

If you renew early what would the expiration date of the new pass be?

your original renewal date + one year or the date you actually renewed?

In 10 I had premium annual passes. When I went to renew for 11, I wanted the regular pass. They told me you can't get the renewal price when you're switching your type of pass. So I had to pay the full price for the new regular pass.

From the passholder website (disneyworld.com/passholder):
Plus, you receive a special discount when you renew your Walt Disney World Pass before your Anniversary Date. You can even renew your Pass up to 30 days after your Anniversary Date and only pay the special Passholder renewal price. But don't delay! Because whether you renew by your Anniversary Date or any time up to 30 days after, your renewal Pass will still expire 12 months after your original anniversary date.

Please write a letter to Guest Services - this shouldn't have happened.

Member Services gave me that answer several times. Told me that the two types of APs aren't connected in the Disney system, so it treats it as a new AP.

From the "Everything About WDW Tickets" sticky, post 15G.

G. What are the rules for Renewal Annual Passes (and what About Renewal Vouchers)?

To renew any sort of Annual Pass it must be done within 30 days of either side of the expiration date. Note that upgrading or downgrading of any annual product may be done at the special renewal rate.

Normally this is done at any park (including water park or TTC) ticket booth or any Guest Relations Office (including DTD). It cannot be done at a Resort.

If you renew prior to the expiration date, the new pass will not be valid until the expiration date of the old pass. If you renew after the expiration date the effective date will be backdated. If you do an upgrade at renewal time, and the renewal/upgrade is prior to the expiration date of the old Pass, the new Pass will not be effective until the old one expires. In any event, using the renewal rate will have the new pass expire on the same date the next year. (See Post #19 for the expired special 15 month promotion.)

If you have a MYW ticket you may upgrade that ticket to a WSP, SP, AP or PAP at the renewal rate just as any other upgrade as long as you are within the renewal window. The rules for expiration date stay the same as any other renewal.

Maybe they've changed the rules? I'm just reporting on what I was told by member services when I called to renew.
