annual pass promotion?

Last year I recall a significant discount was offered to DVC members to buy premium annual passes. Any rumors out there if this promotion is going to be repeated anytime soon?

I spoke with member services a few weeks ago and they told me that a 'big' announcement was coming at the end of the year.. that's all he would say..

those of us who bought the PAP last year at a big discount recently got a renewal notice (with no big discounts). some of the grouchier opinions on the board suggest claire bilby got reassigned for treating us too well ( ).

it'd be great to get a deal like that again (although i really don't need to be going to wdw 3 weeks a year), but right now rumors (like post #2) are all you are going to get. the stuff that's in writing suggests that last year's discount was a one time thing.

I wonder how they weigh and balance the PAP perks vs discounts they offer. Last year they gave a big DVC PAP discount but at the same time they did away with the 20% purchase discounts. I'm sure they have something like a budget that they balance, so I'm wondering what this year will bring.

the underlined part above is not "technically" true. i got my annual pass in nov of last year and the 20% store discounts were still in effect. i wonder if the extra DVC PAP holders were costing them both from a cheap ticket standpoint and a discount purchases standpoint, which pushed them to drop the 20% discount?
