We were at AK on 12/30 about 3:00 pm and they said they were completely out of the annual pins at the Island Merchantile. The lady said they would not have any more until the fall and that the Island Merchantile was the only place to get the AP pins and lanyards. She said the "offer" had been extended from September while supplies lasted and that they had just run out that morning. There were several other customers that had called before coming to AK and were told they had plenty.
I don't think I understand. Why would they only have pins for September for Annual Passes when many people renew/purchase first time AP's at different times of the year. For example, we purchased our AP's in November for our December trip with a planned return in April. It seems that one of the benefits we were expecting when we purchased our AP's was not available as we had been led to believe. While a pin and lanyard were not the deciding factors when we purchased, we spent over $1,000.00 for three AP's. You would think they wouldn't be cheap with a pin and lanyard. They should have pins available through out the year for all AP holders, not just those who purchase in August. They know by the number of AP's sold how many pins they would need.
You would think with attendance so low, they would be delighted to have people buying AP's and would keep their end of the deal. Is this the way this usually works out...will they have more, or new issues, when we return in April?
