annual pass or standard tickets for Australian travellers ????

Hi guys,
I recently heard on a podcast that if you are from overseas and spending 7 days or more in the parks, then an annual pass may be better than just a standard 7 day ticket. I have sort of done the maths and found that maybe this is true if you buy a premium annual pass (I am yet to do the dollar conversion though). Has anyone from O/S ever done this? I suppose if it is around the same cost and you can save on food/merchandise etc it is worth looking at? If anyone can give me any info on annual passes for instance, if I buy one say in June when I book the trip and travel in November is it activated in June or when I first use it in November? It's worth considering, I thought about it before, even if just for the discounts on food and merch.

What you can also consider, is just looking into what days you'll be there, and if any of them are block out dates, if there aren't any towards the end of the 7 days, then you could even upgrade at that time. Even if it's just 1 ticket that you upgrade, you'll still get the discounts.

The annual pass starts from when you activate it, so that would be in November.

If there is block out days when you are going, rather than upgrade the annual pass to premium, you would be better off buying a 14 day pass. They are only available to Australians and New Zealanders and cost around AUS$250.
Currently the deluxe annual pass would cost around AUS$376 and the premium would cost AUS$544.
Even buying the 6 day pass off the disneyland website is US$209 atm which works out to be AUS$292. so even if you were only going for 6 days it would be cheaper to buy the 14 day pass here in AUS.

I dont think the savings you would get from the discounts with a premium annual pass would be greater than the extra money that you had to pay. If you really wanted an annual pass (you might decide when you are there you want to go back within a year) then you could upgrade the 14 day pass to annual pass during your stay
Also you would get 1 magic morning with the 14 day pass which you wouldnt be entitled to (unless staying on disney property) with the annual pass.

Originally we were going to buy annual passes for our trip next month (Oh I love being able to now say "next month"). Then we decided because of costs just one of us would get the annual pass for discounts etc and the rest the 14 day passes. AFter researching long & hard and doing the maths, we have all purchased the 14 day vacation pass from Flight Centre. Hope this helps.

I have had quotes in the past using Annual pass and the price of the rooms doesn't really compensate for the cost of the pass, unless you actually planned to travel again within a year. Unless they come up with some unreal annual pass discount for the Disney properties.

Just to clarify, the Premium AP does not have black out days, it is fully available every day of the year. The Deluxe AP does have black out days, all Saturdays during the summer are currently blacked out.

Get an annual pass!! I did and with the discount I'm recieving at the hotel it's paid for itself. Not to mention the shopping discounts you will recieve.
