Okay experts here's my question. I currently have a year round Florida residents pass. I am up for renewal and there's a discount for renewals. My question is if I change it to a seasonal annual pass do I still get the discount for renewing or must I get the exact same pass.
I found I don't go during the black out times anyway and I don't go enough that the free parking helps. Thanks in advance for any help.

Yes.

When renewing any level of Annual Pass you may upgrade or downgrade to any level of AP which you are eligible for and you will pay the renewal rate for the new level.

I'm going to piggy-back on this with a question of my own. I have a DLR Premium AP that expires on July 15. I'll be at WDW July 7-16, and want to upgrade to the Premiere AP for my trip. Can I do the renewal/upgrade, during my renewal window, and have the effective day changed to July 11 so that I can use it while I'm at WDW?

Question #2: If I purchase a MYW ticket at WDW, can I apply the cost of that ticket to the renewal of the AP that I will be upgrading to the Premiere level?

1. Can I do the renewal/upgrade, during my renewal window,

3. and have the effective day changed to July 11 so that I can use it while I'm at WDW?

Question #2: If I purchase a MYW ticket at WDW, can I apply the cost of that ticket to the renewal of the AP that I will be upgrading to the Premiere level?

1. Yes, BUT...

3. You cannot change the anniversary date on a renewal, because that is not a renewal.
Changing the date on which an AP starts and ends requires buying a new AP.

2. You cannot partially-USE a MYW ticket and then upgrade that ticket to RENEW an AP.
The AP cannot have an anniversary date that is on a different day than when you started using the MYW ticket.
(You CAN use the value of a new, never-used MYW ticket to help pay to renew an AP.)

Seems like you have two options:
A. (If you WILL be returning to WDW within the year)
Simply purchase, outright, a new Premiere WDW/DL AP
on the first date that you need to enter a WDW park (and just allow your current DLR AP to expire.)
That would certainly cost more than doing an AP renewal, but it would be less expensive than
buying stand-alone MYW tickets to cover the first few days of your WDW trip before your AP renewal date.

B. (If you will NOT be returning to WDW within the year)
Buy MYW tickets to fully cover your WDW trip
and renew your DLP AP for use only at the Anaheim park.
