Annual Pass causing me sticker shock!

Just went to price out five day hopper tickets for my parents to join us on a trip in January. Just about died when the price came to $740, for 2 people. And that doesn't even include water parks and more option. Certainly brings me a whole new appreciation for my annual pass. I cannot get over that price, I was expecting $500ish.

Anyone else get sticker shock after pricing out non annual pass tickets?

I have always thought it was completely insane how similar the prices are, compared to what you get.

You almost spend for a week, what you would for an entire year! Craziness!

We usually only go once a year, so we actually do usually just get the park hopper. As it comes out a bit less. But when we do go twice (or sometimes three times), we always make sure to get the APs!

Indeed! For the most part, we now ignore the parks except for perhaps one day per visit. Even then, the "one day" is likely to be a hard-ticket special event or "after 2p" conference pass.

I was a little bummed because I was prepared to buy 2 AP's for DH and I. We are going this November for the W&D 1/2 Marathon and then again next October with the kids. Since we are doing a YES program next year, the AP's would do us no good since we'd have to buy YES tickets anyways. Luckily, I was able to order 4-day park hoppers via RunDisney for the race this year and only spent about $430. I wish there was a way for the YES program to include a way for AP holders to participate.

I am so glad that we can now buy the TIW card without an AP. That is a great perk of DVC membership, particularly for those of us who don't like the DP and may not be good candidates for an AP.

I experienced sticker shock last summer when I ordered 4-day hoppers for DL (the day before their price increase). $825 for 3 ppl. Then we ended up having to cancel the trip due to a medical emergency. Thankfully we were able to make it to WDW instead and they allowed us to apply the value toward our AP's - but we still had to cough up another $600 AND now we still want to try to re-plan the DL trip for next summer. I wish they also gave a discount on those AP's that are good on both coasts rather than gouging us for the reg. tix.

I feel your pain. We are buying 9 day passes with hopper feature for our two adult children who are joining us at Christmas, and needless to say, the passes are their gift!;)

Wow! I didn't know this was possible. Next year we are planning a family trip and to entice my son-in-law to come we have promised to book during TOT 10 miler. Tickets are a killer because they will be bringing 4, 5, maybe all 6 kids. If they were able to get 4-day park hoppers through RunDisney that would be awesome!! Is there a limit to how many you can buy?

I don't remember if there was a limit, sorry. Since it is just DH and I and we are both running, I don't know if the price extends to family members too. I will try to check when I get to my computer, but I think the deadline has passed so the link may no longer work.

Ok, I just checked the ticket prices and 4-day park hoppers total $226.85 per person**. The tickets are the same price for everyone over age 3 so there is no adult/child pricing. It does say that the participants can purchase the tickets for their family so you should be good. The tickets can be purchased for 3-7 days and you can add the park hopper and/or WFP&M option. They do have an expiration date and you cannot modify/upgrade them once purchased.

Hope this helps:thumbsup2.

**I paid $431.20 for the two tickets because I used my Target RedCard to buy (9) $50 gift cards (which cost me only $427.50) and then I had another Disney gift card with about $5 left on it that I used for the rest.

This really helps, thank you so much!

After checking current Disney prices, total for 7 people is $2519.79
UT price is $2393.09
RunDisney price would be $1587.95

I would say that's a major savings. My daughter was going to try to buy 1 ticket per month to take the sting out of the sticker shock but I will be letting her know about this. I know there will probably be a raise in ticket price between now and then but am assuming it will be a raise across the board.

Thanks again!!
