Announcing New Shops, Eateries Coming to Downtown Disney District. Including a New Marvel Shop "Avengers Reserve"

Honestly least looking forward to Avengers plenty of that in California Adventure but happy for fans of Marvel to get a larger store.

Wonderful World of Sweets will be fun to check out and how Earl's new design is in person- nothing that major of change though. Hope stores do well.

*edit I agree sad about the name change though removing Marcelines history reference

Well, considering you can barely cram 20 people into the current Avengers store, it’s long overdue. It was much nicer back over next to Monsters inc and had a nicer vibe.

They need ample space to display the movie props.

Can’t wait! I’m sure it’ll be open for the holidays?

However, not happy about the change to Marceline’s but I suppose the average visitor didn’t know the connection and couldn’t figure out what’s confectionery was. Just put in a “It’s Sugar” store instead. One more thing that is divorced from Walt connection.😡😢

I'm 'semi-excited' about the DLander shop. I'm hoping it's similar to the Marketplace Co-op at Disney Springs. I LOVE that place and if I find out it's similar I will be sooo jazzed!!!

Avengers isn't my thing, but I'm sure I'll be able to find things for my Marvel fan family members.

Disappointed about the name change for Marceline's. Another tiny 'memory' of Walt's history bites the dust. And also unhappy about the Werther's caramel corn as if it's the same as at the Werther's place in Epcot it's not gluten free. I hope this isn't a major change they're making to ALL the Disney caramel corn, as it's one sweet treat I count on to be safe.

The eateries I always reserve judgement on until I know if I can eat there lol. So those get a 'shoulder shrug' until I know more.

I could be wrong but I feel like many of these things are for 2025.

Good point!! My apologies I kept thinking the Hollywood backlot store/stage area was open. The shop in actual Avengers Campus is tiny, which will probably change soon with new attractions coming.

The wonderful world of sweets looks intriguing and I'm curious about the new clothing store. Unfortunately I can no longer go to DTD, as my daughter will want to stay at the slime cart all day long.

I wish they didn't change the name of Marceline's though....

I like the additions, but I still don't like the architecture. I liked it much better when there were unique buildings and a varied look. I also have to admit I'm not a big fan of mid-century modern; I lived through it once before and didn't like it then. I much prefer embellishments and detail to slick and plastic. Don't even like the colors. However, I'm sure it's easier to maintain and I guess some people like it.

I'm with everyone else who mentioned being sad about Marceline's name disappearing. But I do love the expansion, though I was really afraid it meant that all of the famous home-made treats would disappear. I'm happy to see there will still be churro toffee, and I hope that other favorites of mine will survive the changes.

Nice to hear about the new steakhouse though I wish they'd put the old Steakhouse 55 back in DLH. Still, it's nice to have so many multi-cultural dining experiences in DTD along with standard American fare.

Not into Avengers but it's definitely a good addition to DTD.

DTD seems to be heavily weighted (if you'll pardon the expression) to dining...

Oh! I forgot about the new D-Lander store! Now that's exciting news to me :). Is that going to take the place of the current DL apparel shop as you go into the GCH entry from DTD? Will it be bigger?

My focus is on Marcelines

Cons: name change, fear of losing unique sweets and watching candy makers do their magic, the architecture doesn’t look as whimsical and magical as I’d like

Pros: bigger, more options, Werthers original caramal popcorn!!!

Totally agree! The look is just so...warehouse. And I didn't even think about the candy makers!! I hope they don't do away with the viewing window for that. And please please please don't lose the homemade treats. Prepackaged is just not the same.

Does it say anywhere when these reforms are going to start or have they already started?
They have already started. This photo of the Parkside Market building was taken a couple of months ago.

In this photo, you can see the DLH to the right and, on the left is the new construction where the Market and retail should open.

From previous press releases, Parkside Market will also have Seoul Sister, Sip & Sonder, GG's Chicken Soup.

Marcelines has been closed since May. The Dress Shop moved to a temporary location where Wonderground used to be. Wonderground is in a different temp location.

It looks like Wonderful World of Sweets will expand the Marceline's footprint and take over the former Dress Shop space. This was predicted by many. Since they have already been working on it for four months, I would expect that it should open soon.

Disney just filed a new permit to demolish Tortilla Jo's. The steakhouse and BBQ restaurants will go into that space.

The lattice work on the Avengers store and DLander looks like they will be in the area closer to Disneyland hotel as you walk in the new security.

The roof of Wonderful World of Sweets is obviously just outside of GCH security.

See, I love mid-century modern, especially when it's done well. But I grew up with it so I suppose it holds a subconscious nostalgia for me.

DTD could look really fantastic in MCM if they threw in a little touch of 'Googie' here and there. The problem as it stand is that the beautiful Craftsman hotel that looms over half of it doesn't 'meld' and the mishmash of design styles between what is there now, what is new built, and what is being 'refreshed' is visually jarring.

Disney Springs does have differing architectural styles, but it's so big and has different areas 'divided' by streams or a wide walkway so you sort of 'transition' from one style of design to another. DTD unfortunately doesn't have the space for that.
