ANNOUNCEMENT: Board Update

Info from Webmaster Pete:

This weekend we're going to be upgrading our forum software to the latest version, Xenforo 2. The boards will be unavailable starting on Saturday at 3 pm eastern. We anticipate they will be back online Saturday night if there are no technical issues with the transfer. Once the forums are back online, the design team will be working on them, so they may not look like "our forums" right away. While we are upgrading the software, this new version does have some major differences - mainly that it is designed with a priority on mobile devices. There are also many new features with this version of Xenforo, including expanded emoji options, enhanced editing features and better integration with social media among them.

While we don't expect any major downtime, with any migration to a new platform, things can happen - so we ask for your patience and understanding as we undergo this enhancement.

Why did you decide to remove the number of posts from the I.D. area. It helped to know if I was responding to someone about a meet. i.e. a male asked to meet with me at F&W on the solo traveler's board, because he only had 3 posts I chose not to meet him.

I just clicked your name and it says "616 messages" in the pop-up. Is that what you're referring to?

Here's one they just told us about:

Bookmark feature.
On the upper right corner of every thread is a little 'bookmark' icon. Clicking on that will allow you to bookmark that thread, give it some custom tags to make it easier to find and save it to your bookmarks area. You can find your bookmarks by clicking on your username in the menu bar (top right of the page) and then selecting 'bookmarks' next to 'Your account'. It's a simple feature, but one that should help people during the research phases of their trip.

New UBB Codes? I don't recall seeing the following UBB features in the prior version:

• Tables!
• Inline Programming Code
• Text Indent
• Spoiler and Inline Spoiler
• Text alignment (left/right/center)

I'm especially looking forward to TABLES! Yeah!!!

Tables will be great for the ROFR thread. I'll work on some formatting for the next thread in Q3. (Then @pangyal will take all the credit, as usual. )
