Our 10th wedding anniversary is in August; we initially planned to do the Avengers weekend - DH and DD7 doing the 5K with me, and me doing the Infinity Gauntlet challenge. A few things happened along the way to make me reconsider and plan for either Star Wars or Tink in 2017. Anyway...

DH and I planned to do a long weekend somewhere for our 10th. I had honestly hoped for something tropical, but DH doesn't swim & has pretty severe water anxiety due to a near drowning as a child, so sitting around a pool or ocean isn't really his thing. I brought up a number of suggestions to him (Bahamas, Bermuda, Kona, even Vegas, New Orleans) and he said "why don't we just do an adults only trip to DLR? You'll have your AP and we can use miles and we'll just do all the things we can't do or don't want to do when DD is with us".

So, we'll still be there Avengers weekend (11/12-11/16), staying at Tropicana and having a blast. Who would have thought that the guy who begrudgingly made his first trip 2 1/2 years ago will be making his 5th trip in 3 years by his own choice?!

We arrive the day after you leave for our first anniversary. We only travel as adults but from my own observation you can get so much more done when it's just the two of you. Other bonuses include - eating where and when you want, doing the Fantasyland rides at close with shorter waits or first thing on a magic morning with only your hubby whining about the early mornings, walking quickly from point A to point B (or conversely being able to just wander through the parks taking your time), just spending time with your hubby in such a magical place! Enjoy!!!!

Adult only trips are awesome. We love going with the whole family to share all the fun and for us it has gotten even better as both of our kids became teenagers. But as Alli said, you can do whatever you want whenever you want when it is just the two of you, or solo. If budget allows, you might want to think about the Chef's counter at Napa Rose for that special day. Steakhouse 55 is also a nice place to have a relaxing meal.

Yes! I've been thinking about different places. We really want to do Carthay Circle. DD7 would eat the food there no problem, I just don't like spending $$$ on kids meals. Same with all the others mentioned. I've only had breakfast at Steakhouse 55, and it was great!

I'm really looking forward to NOT having to go on Silly Symphony Swings or the Tea Cups 935892 times, and being able to stay to close down the parks! (though DD7 and I did that one day last summer, but you can't do that EVERY day with a kiddo and still do early mornings).

We are going on our 20th anniversary trip in Feb. Trying to decide on restaurants. We are staying at the VGC.

Enjoy! We'll probably do Chef's Counter, Carthay Circle and who knows what else?

My husband and I both had never been to WDW or DLR and booked a trip to WDW on whim for our first anniversary last year (we booked it about 20 days in advance AND got all the ADRs and FP times we wanted- benefit of being a party of two) and now we're going to SoCal/DLR for our second anniversary this year.

We don't have kids and never went as kids so we don't have anything to compare it to, but I feel like we're having more fun than people lugging strollers and whining kids around. As a party of two you alway get on rides faster (CMs are always asking for a party of two!), you stay up later, you stop and enjoy a drink when you want it, can eat all the Mickey bars you want, etc. DH and I both have fairly stressful jobs so it's nice to go on vacation somewhere where you don't have to think much (vs, like, Europe) and where you are encouraged to have fun like a little kid.

I highly endorse an adult only trip!

I'm the one with the DLR addiction in our family, and DH only went the first time, when we both spent a lot of time in the hotel with our sick oldest daughter. He's never ridden any of the older FL rides and missed a lot of other things, too. We are going for my birthday in September, just the two of us! So excited. Our kids are older now, but it's still so nice to be planning on doing what we want, when we want, and doing some really nice dining, too. Adult only trips rock! :) Hope you have a great time!
