Wendy (me) 46 but feels 21 in mind - Disney mad, the planner
John (DH) 46 - getting almost at Disney mad as me
Glen (DS) 14 - our lovely little boy one minute, stroppy teenager the next and mature young man occasionally
Ashley (DS) 11 - the loud one! A lot of this holiday has been based around his needs with him being very special.

Thursday 25th October 2007

Caught an early bus to MGM studios, I was hoping to get there for park opening but by the time we had called at Swan and Dolphin it was 9.10am before we arrived.

We were going to spend the day doing things we had missed so Glen and I made a mad dash for Tower of Terror, I wish I had kept my camera on me to get some inside piccies but I’d thrown it at John in my haste to get on the ride as I didn’t know whether it would survive being hoisted up and down in the lift! We didn’t have to queue long as the CM was calling out for two people to fill a gap in the lift so we got straight to the front! I loved it but Glen came of feeling a bit green and vowing ‘never again’ - aahh I wanted to! Generally wandered around calling in here and there!

Ashley’s only request that he sees Lights, Motors, Action, we had to do it for him but we’d already seen it twice in Paris so the rest of us weren’t bothered but anything to keep the peace! Mid afternoon we made our way back to the hotel for a very quick swim as we had to be at the Grand Floridian for 6pm for our photoshoot. That journey was straight out of a nightmare, you know the one where you are trying to get somewhere and not succeeding. We started out OK, down to the bus stop for 4.15pm, realised I’d left my engagement and eternity rings on side of the wash basin, ran up to the room to get them when I got back one bus had turned up and it was the one we wanted to MK! Twenty minutes or so later another one came, we had the slowest driver on the planet! Waited forever at junctions to pull out then picked up a member of staff and dropped her off at a car park before going a very long way to MK bus stop. Went to catch the monorail but John wouldn’t get on as it was going away from GF all the way around the loop and he said it would take too long! Went to catch the ferry across and waited forever for that to turn up, by now it was 5.55pm! We eventually got across to GF with about 1 minute to spare and ran inside and up the stairs, so instead of arriving cool and tidy looking, we were hot, bothered, annoyed and desperate for the loo! Our photographer on the other hand was calm and told us not to worry! Here are the results of the session.

Our photographer showed us the results on a computer before we made our way to 1900 Park Fare for dinner with Cinderella. We had to wait a few minutes so took some photos of the lobby.

Our pager went off and we returned to be seated, as we walked in the restaurant the Ugly Sisters were going around the tables, one pinched a pen off the other and then the fun started, screaming match and chasing each other around, the diners just fell about laughing, it was so funny. We got our food and waited for them to come around to us.

By now the boys had got into the swing of character meals, but nothing prepared them for this. When one sister arrived our table she yelled out in a loud voice “there are two future husbands here and I’m keeping both of them!” the other sister came over and then another screaming match began. Glen and Ashley were crawling under the table! John and I thought it was hilarious! (Sorry boys but you looked horrified!)

Step mother came around and the look she and Glen are giving each other is amusing.

Prince Charming came around and called me a princess - I was in love with another man for ages after that!

And finally the main lady herself.

We sat there eating Cinderella and Prince Charming had a little dance in the centre of the restaurant when suddenly an Ugly Sister came to get Ashley to dance with her, he said no, she turned to Glen who also said no - so I volunteered John who got up and I’m not sure who whisked who around but it was fun and everyone enjoyed it. Cost $149.35/4 table service credits.

Journey home was much quicker where the boys went to the room while John and I walked around the boardwalk yet again.

Awww what fab photos?!!! If I ever get my DH back to WDW (so many holidays, so little holiday time...) I'd love a Grand Floridian photo shoot - and the character meal looks cool too... :thumbsup2

that photo shoot was amazing, what a lovely souvenir

What a great day. It sometimes is hard getting anywhere on time when relying on the buses in WDW. However it looks as though it was worth the hassle.

Great photos

Gorgeous photos Wendy:goodvibes

What beautiful photos you had taken at The Grand Floridian - you must have been very pleased I imagine

Tammy

Unfortunately Tammy we weren't! We tweaked with them, me on the Photopass site and DH once the pics were on our computer, he has an editing package that re-aligns, gets rid of red eye and can lighten the background etc. The indoor ones were so dark he had to lighten them as much as he could. The twenty minutes we were allowed was frantic and the photographer said we went overtime! I had to ask for the ones on the stairs to be taken.

Lovely photo shoot photos pity you didn't think it was that great would you recommend it?

The meal sounded fun that's on our list for next year!

I would recommend doing it, anything is worth trying. Maybe my expectations were too high, I had seen other examples of GF photoshoots and felt ours didn't match up. It felt very rushed, as it was a dull day the photographer rushed us outside to catch the remaining light before it went which was fair enough but inside she was messing about with her tripod for ages and then the results were very dark. The 20 minutes went so fast she took 75 or so photos during that time so you can work out how fast she was taking them. You could tell some photographers were more experienced than others as some of our park photos were out of focus and we had to return to have them taken a second time. For the $25 it cost we had our monies worth.

Wendy, I am glad to hear that it isn't just me who has journeys like that!! Glad you got there in the end. That character buffet sounds great especially with all the fun interaction with the characters.

Laur's princess:

Your photos are great, I especially like the one of Glen and Ashley on the hammock.
