Anniversary Trip Report 10/4-10/11 with food reviews and pics!!

Great reviews!

Do you happen to work for an Adventist Hospital in the area? I am near you and do...just wondering. It's fun to see people on here from the same places you are from!

I loved your reviews and thanks so much for sharing them with us. Also, happy anniversary! For your anniversary dinner, you ate at one of my families favorite restaurants...Jiko.

So, I know that this is the dining review board, but would you mind saying a few words about your CSR stay? I have always wanted to stay there, but there is no way in HE double toothpicks I will sleep in a double bed with my DH. We have a king at home, and so even a queen is a step down IMHO! Our 15 yo comes along with us, so we always need two beds and therefore a king room is out of the question. Anyway, I heard that CSR is putting queen beds in all their rooms so I might give it a try. Did you like this resort? How was the transportation? Any other tips?

I had never even considered staying at CSR until I looked over the DIS boards and fell in love with all the beautiful pictures of the resort! The resort itself was gorgeous..... grounds beautiful, pool wonderful, we loved the food court (not so much the Maya Grill).... but I would not want to stay there again only because it was just too big IMO..... I had known that the resort was well spread out ahead of time but it really became a pain.... we were in Casitas 3 and to get to the main pool, we had to walk across the lake which took almost 10 min! Yes, the quiet pool was right by us but we liked the main pool better..... if I chose to stay here again, I would choose the Cabanas section because I liked the atmosphere better over there, loved the hammocks and the beachy feel, Cabanas was closer to main pool and not too far a walk from main lobby (depending on which building).... from our room, it was a long walk to the pool, long walk to the buses (which we didnt use but just so you get an idea), long walk to the main lobby/food court, and long walk to our car in the parking lot.... We also have a king sized bed at home and the Casitas did have the new queen beds but after sleeping in our king bed, the beds at CSR seemed downright small to us! And the pillows were not that comfortable.... I did enjoy having a ceiling fan though! Also, if you like watching TV at night when you fall asleep like I do, they had HORRIBLE channels to pick from....Like I said, didn't use the transportation because we had a rental car..... the staff especially at the pepper market were not overly friendly.... Would I recommend this resort to others? Sure, it is definitely a step-up from the values and has grounds comparable to a deluxe, wonderful theming, but will we stay here again? Probably not.... I have stayed at POFQ before and prefer that one to CSR now.... but I also have a goal to try at least every Disney resort once! =)

You are right...Casitas 3 is a hike to the main pool. We were in Casitas 3 last month because they upgraded us to a suite. We prefer 4 or 5 which we have been in five of our seven trips--it is a short walk to everything (and we prefer the quiet pool). We always rent a car so we never use the buses. I agree with you about the Pepper Market staff. As much as I love the CSR and we won't go anywhere else (unless I win the lotto and we go to the AKL), they really need to do something about that staff at PM (although last month when we were there was the friendliest I have ever seen them).

Thanks so much for the lowdown on CSR. I know what you mean about wanting to try all the resorts at WDW! I have been working on trying all of the deluxes and DVC properties, but still do have a way to go! I really had not considered a moderate before, but those queen beds are incentive enough for me to at least give CSR a try. I also like that they do have some of the amenities that the deluxe resorts have, like a spa. I will definately avoid the Maya Grill if we stay here. I really have never heard anything good about that restaurant! The Pepper Mill does sound like a good option for a food court though. Hmmm...I definately have some thinking to do!
