This will be DH and my third trip to Disney World, and we will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary. We are kids at heart and love character meals, but also other restaurants with immersive atmospheres (like the countries in Epcot). We will be on the DDP and have 6 table service credits. We want to do a mixture of favorites and also trying new places. So far, we are for sure doing:

Akershus dinner
Crystal Palace dinner
Biergarten dinner
Be Our Guest dinner

Akershus, CP, and BOG are favorites, and Biergarten is a new one for us. We want to try other new place(s) for our remaining two credits. We've already tried TH, Ohana bfast, 1900 PF dinner, and Marrakesh. I am torn between trying a signature restaurant for 2 credits since we've never been to one, or trying two new character meals or other 1 credit meals. Right now I'm thinking either Jiko for a signature restaurant, or Garden Grill bfast and Chef Mickey's for new character meals. I know Chef Mickey's has some very negative reviews, but the character's costumes are fun plus it's the fab five.

We will have five park days - 3 MK and 2 EP, with the passes that allow one park per day. Another reason we're thinking of Jiko is that since we'll be skipping AK this time, we'd still get to see animals and explore a resort we've never been to. We'll be staying at AoA in a Little Mermaid room. We are on a budget, so we will not be doing any extra meals out of pocket.

What are your thoughts, keeping in mind that atmosphere/experience are the most important to us? I know the trip will be magical no matter what, but I'd love to get some suggestions from those who are also kids at heart and love immersive atmospheres! Thank you in advance!!! :thanks:

Biergarten is a hoot and surprisingly delicious (surprising because it is underrated I think and has many familiar tastes plus amazing Rieslings and giant steins of beer. Your list is great fun.

Jiko is my husband and adult son's favorite. Everything about it is fantastic. Huge selection of SAfrican wines and a great ambiance. My favorite is Narcoosee's- the food isn't as good as say California Grill but I find it so charming. I feel like I'm in Dirty Dancing at the country club- the butter poached lobster and steak is a great use of 2 credits- get the almond crusted cheesecake!!- the wow factor is the that you can watch the water parade go by if you time your res right and let them know.

Being that you like to really get Disney with it, I would suggest the Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue. 'the longest running show there for a reason. My 21 yo adores it, my husband adores it, my 5 year old adores it. The food is delicious! and they just revamped it. Beer and wine included. You will have a memorable time- book the show time that allows you to have category 1 with 2 credits and I bet you may get singled out for a special occasion. They ask who is celebrating and its very interactive. The boat ride out there is so nice too with the wind blowing your hair.

Jiko. As you suggest, a great ambiance is something you seek, and Jiko has that. Further, it has wonderful food, lovely service, and is a great spot to celebrate an anniversary. Take time to explore the resort--it's beautiful. Keep in mind that you won't see any animals except during daylight hours. Just make sure you leave enough time to explore the resort beforehand if you plan to do dinner. Enjoy!!

Mrs Tigger's Ally and I love a table for 2 at Rose and Crown, out on the back patio prior to and during Illiminations. We love to sit across from one another during the meal, then together during the show, then across from one another afterward for a cordial and desert. Great evening. We are very young at heart too, but every now and then we have to act like we have been married for 30+ years because we have! pirate: After all, we can't be at Abracadabrabar or Raglan Road for the whole trip now can we? :tigger:

At Narcoosee's the butter poached lobster and steak combo is no longer available on the DDP. The lobster tail is an expensive add on OOP.
Jiko would be great for an anniversary dinner.
What will you do for the night you do not have a credit for if you are on a budget and do not want to pay for an OOP meal. We would still have to eat that day. Just a thought,

I have seen nothing but the highest praise for Flying Fish since it reopened if you want a really great meal for a celebration in a beautiful place. If you are more into using the two credits on their own, Coral Reef may be a good one. If you want to see the animals, you may really enjoy like Saana for your meal and then you still have that one credit left over. By the way, you will love Biergarten, great choice there.

Good to know! We were just there but didn't do a DP this time. They have the lobster on its own with a corn souffle that you have to lick the ramekin : )

We enjoyed Hoop dee doo last year for our Honeymoon. They make a big deal out of celebrations. Everyone who was celebrating an anniversary, wedding or honeymoon gets to stand up and dance to a slow song one of the performers sing, we loved it and thought it was a special way to celebrate!

Since you mentioned Jiko (which we love), have you considered Sanaa??? IMO its the best on credit table service on property, plus it could meet your desire to check out the lodge and animals.

Jiko is 'just another Signature'.

For the 2-credits:
--Tiffins may be better food (and may offer seating/tickets to Rivers of Light),
--Brown Derby can get you Fantasmic! tickets,
--CA Grill has a superior view.

-- Comments above for Hoop Dee Doo sound like fun.

For 1-credit:
--Sci-Fi Drive-In is always fun,
--Sanaa for daylight lunch/dinner to see the animals

Also:
--Cocktails at Mizners before/after 1900 Park Fare dinner is Disney fun.
--Trader Sam's / O'hana is a similar combination.

If you've never seen Wishes from California Grill, I would highly suggest it. Even my Disney-Grich DH thought it was pretty awesome, both the good and the view.

Where can I find other items that are restricted from using the plan? We have DeluxeDDP and that was the meal I received when we first went to Narcoosee's on our honeymoon. If there are limitations I would like to know before we get there.

Thanks

Go to the Narcoossee's page on the main Disney website in the dining section and view the menu. Scroll down and there is a section titled"Enhancements". These are not included on any Dining plan. The lobster tail is $27 OOP. Also on the list are crab legs, mushrooms, asparagus, mashed potatoes and Mac & cheese.
