Anniversaries-do anything special or not

Typically, we do stuff for our anniversaries. Even if it's just making an extra-special dinner.. sometimes we go out and make a big deal out of it though.

Usually, DFiance gets me flowers and a card. He gets a card and typically a cookie cake from me :thumbsup2

We try to do something to celebrate, but sometimes it's not on our actual anniversary. One year we were in WDW. That was fun. In 2007 we celebrated 3 months late by going to dinner and a play. Twice we were counselors at summer camp for our anniversary. There's nothing more romantic than 100 teenagers singing "Happy Anniversary to you!" around a campfire...

It's silly but we've both been forgetting for years. MIL always remember though and that helps. ;)

Yes, birthdays and anniversaries have always been a big deal in our family :goodvibes. I feel celebrating the day someone is born is a nice way to show your love, happiness and appreciation to have that person in your life....no matter the age :) . With our immediate family of 4 adult children, 4 in-laws and 13 sweet grands, you can believe there are lots of special occasions celebrated!!! :goodvibes

We're blessed to be celebrating our 45th anniversary in May :cloud9:! Together we decided on a cruise and DH chose the destination over a year ago. When our kiddies were home and we were young and poor we'd celebrate with a special dinner at home. Once they were out of college and married, the nest was empty, with finances more secure, we decided it was once again time for us and we'd celebrate anniversaries w/long weekend getaways. For our big 5 year marks we choose a week trip or cruise and we've made some very special memories traveling in and out of the country. We love to always have something on the back burner to keep our old spirits rejuvenated, so Lord willing, we're already talking a dream cruise for all our family to celebrate our 50th annv.!!!:dance3:

Life is short, with age comes wisdom and you never know what tomorrow is going to bring. In the hustle bustle of the daily grind of life, I hope we enjoy each day we're blessed with together and live life to the fullest for as long as we can. :lovestruc

this year was 30 and we went to WDW in March to watch our middle DS perform with his show choir. We called this our anniversary trip because on the weekend of our actual anniversary in June, our oldest DS was getting married.

When our actual anniversary came, we were so busy and stressed, (DHs father died a few days before DS was married) that is was several days before we realized we hadn't even wished each other a happy anniversary!

we always have enough points to spend a free night in a hotel, even if its local or within a few hours drive, so thats what we try to do. My mum living here really helps. Dont know what it will be after this year :(

Dinner out though, if we dont go somewhere.

I think its important that we celebrate at some point, doesnt have to be that day.

DH and I don't do anything special for anniversarys, birthdays, etc. We both love to travel and take big trips at least once (sometimes twice) a year without the kids. We'd rather save and spend our money on that. On the actual day we may go out to dinner and buy a card, but that about it. We just go back from a wonderful cruise we took with a bunch of friends and had a great time. I'd much rather do that than have stuff.

Generally, we don't. But, last year I decided to surprise DH with a surround sound that he wanted for the basement. BIG mistake! He took it out of the box but didn't try to hook it up for a few months. When he did, he realized that the TV in the basement was so old that it wouldn't work. It's now too late to bring it back to Best Buy so we're off to Sam's Club to buy a new TV. He gets it all hooked up but the picture on the TV isn't great. Now, we have to have Dish Network upgrade to HD. So, the great deal that I got on the surround sound ended up costing an additional $800 for the new TV, $40 for two HDMI cables plus the extra each month for HD. I was able to get the install for free since I told Dish Network that I would switch to another provider if they were going to charge us.

Secretly I think that this was part of DH's plan in not trying to get it hooked up sooner.:rolleyes2 Had I realized that it wasn't going to work, I would have returned the surround sound. ;)

I got a card and some flowers!

We usually do something...maybe dinner out, a special meal at home, tickets to the theater or concert for our birthdays and anniversaries(which fall in June and July)......twice we've gone away for the weekend to a small resort in West Virginia for our anniversary(we only do that when our anniversary actually falls during the weekend)....now this year however we celebrate our 25th so we're actually going to WDW and staying in an Animal Kingdom Lodge villas since we're DVC members.....can't wait....we'll actually be there on our anniversary.
