If true... very, very strange

According to Star magazine, which is usually not very accurate, Anna Nicole Smith and Howard K. Stern got married Thursday morning in the Bahamas.

Anna Nicole Smith married her long-time attorney and close confidante, Howard K. Stern, this morning just shortly before 10:30 am in Nassau, Bahamas.
In a world-exclusive report, an eyewitness tells Star that Anna, 38, and Howard, 37, tied the knot shortly before 10:30 am on the morning of September 28, while sailing on a white catamaran off of Nassau! "There was heavy security around the yacht, plus extra speedboats to deliver more supplies as needed (including unlimited Dom Perignon champagne) from the mainland to the catamaran," says the eyewitness, who adds that the wedding party celebrated the union afterwards by having a swim party around the yacht -- "and Anna was wearing a pink bikini!"

Two days before, on September 26, Stern appeared live on the Larry King Show via satellite from the Bahamas, to announce that he was the father of Anna's newborn daughter Danilynne Hope, that he and Anna "love each other" -- and that the duo would get married "at some point."

Apparently, that point arrived much sooner than later. A source adds: "Stern was making all the arrangements in the days before the wedding."

Anna was wearing a pink bikini? Didn't she deliver by C-section just two weeks ago?

And she was drinking champagne and celebrating?

We're not completely buying this...just yet.

(But we wouldn't put it past Anna & Howard.)

In response to new reports that Anna Nicole married her lawyer, Howard K. Stern, in the Bahamas on Thursday, one legal expert explains to us that the move may be part of a cover-up as to the true paternity of Smith's new baby girl.

A family law lawyer tells PerezHilton.com:

"I am positive that the reason they got married is because under the family
law in the Bahamas, if a person marries the mother AFTER birth of the child AND acknowledges he is the natural father (which Howard Stern did on the Larry
King show) -- he is presumed under their laws to be the father of the child.

Look here for their statutes:
http://laws.bahamas.gov.bs/statutes/statute_CHAPTER_130.html

See Part III, 7 (1)(c)

Under Part 10, Larry Birkhead can only file a paternity proceeding if there is no one presumed to be the father."

This gets crazier and crazier.

We hope Anna plays herself in the made for TV movie!

There are no reliable news sources reporting this yet....so I guess we will wait and see! I agree -- very strange if it's true, but all people handle their grief in different ways.

Well, if true. Glad to see that she was able to get over the grief of her son's death in what, 2 wks time?

Either that, or LOTS of alcohol & drugs were involved. ;)

If it is true, I don't find it that strange. People want to feel connected and protected in their time of grief. Having someone to rely on and lean on probably makes her feel more secure right now. I doubt she was "partying it up" afterward, but I wasn't there so I don't really know what happened. .

I agree with you. In addition, when people are grieving they can get manipulated into things that they wouldn't necessarily do when they were feeling good about their situation.

I am just shocked that he is only 37 years old! I thought he was at least 50!!!

Dog the bounty hunter got married the very day he found out his DD died! So would I do it no way, do I think it is strange not really. You can bnever tell what people will do while under so much stress.

So I guess he found a way to get his hands on all that loveley money--convincer her to move to the Bahamas, have her baby there, claim paternity, get her to say "yes". Easy-peazy

It could have been the plan for day one, except Daniel passing way throwing them for a loop. Have the baby and get married a few days later. With what happened to Daniel, they postponed the wedding until after they had gotten confirmation on cause of death.

Who knows, maybe they signed a pre-nup agreement. It doesn't mean that he marries her he gets all the access to her money. But then again, he is a lawyer, he can manipulate her into signing things..

Story here

(CBS/AP) Anna Nicole Smith and her lawyer, Howard K. Stern, pledged their commitment to one another in an officiated ceremony early Thursday in the Bahamas.

A publicist for Smith told Entertainment Tonight that the couple, the new baby, and family members boarded a boat at 3:00 a.m. for a private cruise around Nassau.

"The event was intended to be totally private between two adults deeply in love with each other and needing simple reassurances that they could count on one another through life's ups and downs," the publicist said in a statement.

No marriage certificate was issued and the event was not considered a wedding.

The ceremony follows Stern's claim on CNN's "Larry King Live" earlier this week that he's the father of Smith's newborn baby.

A former boyfriend of Smith's who claims to be the real father called Stern's announcement "laughable." In a statement posted on his Web site, Birkhead said, "I maintain that I am the proud father and look forward to a paternity test."

Stern was with Smith on Sept. 10 when she discovered that her 20-year-old son Daniel had died in her hospital room.

Smith believes a pathologist's conclusion that her son died from an accidental lethal combination of drugs shows he didn't commit suicide and hopes that others will learn from the tragedy, a lawyer said Thursday.

An American examiner hired by the family, Cyril Wecht, said 20-year-old Daniel Smith had methadone and two antidepressants in his system when he died on Sept. 10 in his mother's hospital room in the Bahamas. Low levels of the three drugs interacted to cause an accidental death, Wecht said.

"At least she knows the attacks on her son's reputation can be put to rest because it's clear he didn't intentionally take his life," said Wayne Munroe, a Bahamian attorney for the 38-year-old reality TV star and former Playboy Playmate.

Smith, who gave birth to a daughter three days before her son died at her bedside, is awaiting the conclusions of Wecht and the Bahamas pathologist who performed a separate official autopsy, Munroe said.

Wecht is waiting for test results on tissue samples before he completes his final report.

Smith wants others to learn from her son's death, Munroe told The Associated Press.

CBS/AP) "She wants to see exactly what happened in a final report because she wants to make sure it doesn't happen to someone else's son," he said.

Daniel Smith, who reportedly was hospitalized for depression and back pain before he traveled to Nassau, had been prescribed the antidepressant Lexapro, Wecht said. He said he had not determined whether Smith had also been prescribed Zoloft, the other antidepressant found in his system.

The two drugs can be lethal when taken together or in sequence, according to Ann Blake Tracy, the Des Moines, Iowa-based director of the International Coalition for Drug Awareness.

"The residue can stay there for some time, and if they're prescribed one after they've taken another, they can end up in trouble," she said.

Wecht said he did not know why Smith was taking methadone, a pain-reliever that is also used to ease heroin cravings for recovering addicts.

The combination of the three drugs, even in low doses, could easily have killed Smith, said Lisa Johnson, a pharmacist at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

"The methadone will slow you down, but the other ones make your system speed up, so it's an odd combination," she said.

Chief Magistrate Roger Gomez said he has not received official toxicology results or a police report, which can determine whether a jury inquest is necessary. Wecht, a Pittsburgh-based forensic pathologist, plans to discuss his findings with Bahamas officials. Gomez said Wecht's toxicology results will not affect the Bahamian investigation.

Daniel Smith, who appeared several times on the E! reality series "The Anna Nicole Show," was the son of Anna Nicole and Bill Smith, who married in 1985 and divorced two years later.

Smith married Texas oil tycoon J. Howard Marshall II in 1994, when she was 26 and he was 89. He died the following year. She has since been involved in legal disputes over the estate.

Yes, he got married the day he found out, but considering they had been planning it for who knows how long and everyone was assembled and waiting for them that day... it is understandable that they went ahead with it.

But if my child died that far before I was to get married and my marriage was a quicky with a Justice of the Peace on the beach in a bikini... I think I would put it off so as not to look as tacky as she now does.

From what I've read on the Bounty Hunger, it says he got married the day after she died. I don't think it is understandable, there is no way I could function when my sons died, I don't think I could do it. I know everyone is different and he is a man and they grieve totally different then women (not saying he didn't grieve, just differently).

I don't think it looks tack that she got married, people do crazy things when there grieving, (I know look who were talking about, she never does anything normal!). Everything I've ever read it says you shouldn't make any major decisions after a loss, but when your grieving you don't think like that. I actually think they got married because of what this lawyer said about the laws in the Bahamas and patertiny.

She is not married; it was a commitment ceremony.

Who knows what someone might do when they are still grieving over the death of a child?? :confused3

Something seems a little off here.

"A little off" is really par for the course with Anna though. The poor thing is such a mess. I hope things come together for her soon.

Dog already had the wedding planned.

First I had heard that the Larry guy did take a paternaty test & failed. Then I heard that he was requesting a paternaty test which goes along with the statement about people in the Bahamas getting married after a child is born. I heard they want to live in the Bahamas to raise this child-- sounds like they're hiding. :sad2:
