Anna Nicole Smith ~ DIED OF UNKNOWN CAUSE ~ will the real father please stand up

Truer words were NEVER spoken...

Somehow I hear a Lifetime story in the works.

I was watching Larry King lastnight and I'm pretty sure there was a movie about her life coming out soon and one of the movie people said the first screening was this weekend. How's that ironic? Will they make another ending? I could be mistaken that it was a movie about her life though, I was barely listening.

TLH - I followed your link and read a little. Now I understand why LB wants a sample of ANS's DNA - in case she switched the babies so that LB would not be found the father once the baby was tested. Interesting.

Denae
But then Stern wouldn't be found the father either. But, just to be sure, I can see them wanting her DNA. Her lawyer was on TV last night, and he was outraged and disgusted that LB would even ask for a DNA test at this time, but of course he should. When else would he ask? Best to be safe, in case something screwy is going on. The poor guy has been trying for months to get a DNA test to determine if that's his baby.

In Anna Nicole's case, I would have to say she died of a broken heart.

Oh, I think that was definitely what led to her death. She was such a sad, sad person with no one to look out for her. No one in her life had her best interests at heart, least of all herself. And then after her son died...I just had a feeling she wasn't going to recover for that. I just worry about that little baby girl. I hope to God they find her a loving home. I don't think she'd get one from the media circus that was Anna Nicole's life :(

As soon as I heard the news I instantly thought back to Christina Onassis' death at age 37 and her little daughter, Athena. And although her estranged husband, Thierry Roussel, did not legally inherit the money, by getting custody of Athena, he was guardian of her trusts until she reached the legal age. And, even though he did have some money of his own, it certainly changed and improved his and his new wife's lifestyle. Whoever gets custody or guardianship of the baby, will be living off that trust until Dannielynn becomes of age. I'd bet that ANS named HKS as the baby's guardian in her will.

But then Stern wouldn't be found the father either.

That's true. But who would have standing to ask for a DNA test of Stern? He is listed on the birth certificate, so he is presumed to be the father. I would think someone would need a pretty compelling argument for a judge to mandate testing.

According to CNN...

-- A Los Angeles judge orders the body of Anna Nicole Smith to be preserved pending a February 20 hearing on the paternity dispute surrounding her five-month-old daughter, lawyer says.

:confused3

She can't even rest now... why can't they just get what they need right now?

MSNBC is reporting that a judge just ruled out an emergency DNA test from ANS. Hmmm whats going to happen to that poor baby? I hope that Howard guy doesn't run off with her.

OOPS more: the judge has now ordered the body to be preserved until at least Feb 20. So no funeral, thats just sad for anyone that loves her.

I had just read that too and was :confused3
It just seems wrong on so many counts.

From my understanding there already was an Order in place for DNA testing but they (Anna and Howard) were not cooperating.

Now Anna has passed and rather than just take a sample of blood or tissue or whatever it is they need, let's hold her body for at least 12 days past her death?

I'd like to know why the magistrate felt this the best option. I mean let the poor girl be put to rest. That's just sickening to me.

And I'll be honest, I never cared for "Anna the celebrity" but as Vicki, the person she was deep down, I couldn't help but feel sorry for her.

It seemed to me that she was looking for something, maybe love, acceptance, a sense of self worth ... I don't know for sure. Then she got caught up with the wrong crowd, people who I don't feel cared about her as Vicki but as Anna and the money and fame she could bring to them by association.

People who should have been wiser than her, helped her make better choices. Who when they witnessed her downward spiral should have stepped up and said "hey, let's get you some help before we go any farther". You don't turn a blind eye when you see drug abuse, you don't let someone go out in public or do interviews when they're slurring their words or looking strung out.

It reminds me of when people talk about Elvis dying - everybody wanted to be a part of that, kept him supplied with drugs, parties, but where were the real friends? I have to wonder if Howard didn't let her have real friends. He was always there, like she was being controlled by him.

No matter, it's just really sad. She lost a husband, a child, her mom lost a daughter and a grandson. And now this little baby will grow up never really knowing her mom as Vicki.

Being a guardian of a trust and a child is different than inheriting, free and clear. As guardian and trustee, their job would be to provide for the child, and in so doing, they'd absolutely live better because the child would be. The statement in Deb's post said ANS's baby's father would probably SPLIT the assets with the child IF there was NO will. I just don't understand where the father of the child has any right to INHERIT.

As far as holding her body for 20 days...they're fighting over whether to allow her DNA to be taken...ANS's lawyer is saying "no", Larry Birkhead's lawyer is saying yes. A legal decision needs to be made (and they don't do things that quickly  ), and you just know it will be appealed by either side.

This whole thing is just ridiculous. Why should it be this difficult to prove paternity. It's not like LB is just some random guy who showed up. He apparently does have reason to believe he's the baby's father. How long does it take to get a paternity test, a few days? This is just dumb.

Her son wasn't buried until I think 39 days after his death. So the 12 days mandated by the judge isn't so much. I'm sure her wish would be to be buried with her son, so they would either have to make arrangements to move him or have her funeral there. He is buried in the Bahamas, because that's where ANS thought she would be living permanently. I read that when she thought she would lose residency, she planned to move his grave to wherever she lived.

I truly hope she did make a new will after Daniel's death. I would hate for her family to have all rights to her estate, given her (non) relationship with them.

I do look at the CTV boards occasionally, but some of the posters are very extreme with their theories!

I think the movie is one she recently made. Daniel had a role in it, too. I saw the trailer for it - something about space alien girls!

Did you all read this?

Meanwhile, "Entertainment Tonight's" Mark Steines, the last person to interview her, told CNN that Smith had to be placed in an ice bath Tuesday after her fever reached 105 degrees.

Her fever came down, Steines said, but on Wednesday she slipped and fell in the bathtub. When Stern and her nurse went to check on her, "she seemed a little bit out of it" but didn't appear to have suffered any significant injuries, Steines said.

(DNA) See that makes me wonder why doesn't her lawyer want it taken? Does he have reason to believe something is fishy or does he see $$$ by keeping up the legal fight? Why can't everybody just agree to do what's best for the baby - find her legal father- do what's best for Anna - let her rest in peace and let go of all the legal battles. :sad2:

Yes, they were together for at the least 2 years. AND of recent have been spending much time on the phone. LB was interviewed just Mon or Tues night on one of those E TV shows and he is (was) holding on to so much hope that the baby is his. He also had been taping all the phone calls between himself and ANS and they were still getting along. They were actually pretty civil to each other talking about THEIR relationship that THEY had over the years. And one time LB actually heard the baby crying in the background and it was on the recording and he was thrilled to even hear the baby's cry.

Also, I am really glad the baby's name was changed after Daniel died...do you all remember she was going to be HANNAH....(Going out on a limb here, I think they were trying to do a combo of H (for Howard) and Anna for ANS!!!

ETA: I just really really do not believe this is HKS's baby at all...? If the baby is his, just do the test and everyone can get on with their lives and ANNA can rest in peace with Daniel.

OHHHH well thats good I guess I'm glad it wasn't her life story. It would be an epic saga bigger than War and Peace poor thing.

I heard that this morning. I realize we're not celebs and don't have private nurses and the like but still, I'd have my family member checked out at the hospital.

It was also reported that she was ill while still in the Bahamas but had been okayed to fly after having been medicatated, I forgot what she was given though.

Poor girl, I wish somebody had cared enough to get her some real help. :sad2:

OKAY, where was Stern on Thursday...??? This just seems so odd that he was no where around AND the News also stated all the medication found in the hotel room had HKS's name on the bottles. NONE of the bottles had ANS's name on them....??? :confused3
