That is so sad. For some reason, I'm reminded of Marilyn Monroe: both beautiful, troubled women who died young and alone in odd circumstances.

In October 2006, Smith's estranged mom, Virgie Arthur, told Nancy Grace on CNN Headline News that after the death of Anna's son, Daniel, she was concerned that Howard K. Stern was the one in line to inherit Anna's millions.

"If Howard Stern marries her and she ends up dead, then who does the money go [to]? Danny's not there," Arthur said.

Additionally....

Many people have speculated that Stern gave Daniel the Methadone [prescription heroin substitute] that killed him.

While that investigation continues despite Anna's death, an investigation into her death will likely lead cops to closely examine Howard, the "brains" behind Smith.

Was Stern exploiting Smith's pain for money? He was the one likely responsible for orchestrating the million-dollar interviews with Entertainment Tonight and the sale of all their personal photos to People magazine and other publications.

2) I am thinking the same thing-- Stern....present at son's death, with Nicole, the baby (if wills were redone) would stand to inherit a lot(from her first husband's estate).....dna testing required...hummmmmmm I smell motive

I hate to give in to conspiracy theories but, one does wonder, particularly when he was 'around' when Daniel died. He seems to have been invested in separating her from others and the OTHER BIG QUESTION; Is he the baby's father? I would vote NO. If he was confident of that, a paternity test would have been done long ago. Right now the baby is an orphan.

I think she was a BEAUTIFUL model who was probably a professional make up artist's dream...she wore it well.

She was ill. Probably her entire life. Mental illness, then drug addiction. She was surrounded by people who did not have her best interest at hand.

Did any of you ever see the episode where her cousin came to visit her? She had no teeth and was poorly educated. I assume ANS came from a life that none of us could ever imagine.

She is with her son now. There are different plans for her daughter. I hope she is raised by people who care.

I've been out all day so I'm just learning about all of this. Sad situation.

I caught a little bit of Dr. Sanjay Gupta's (CNN) take on all of this and he suggested that the Trimspa pills she took contained ephedra (when it was still legal) and that the pills *might* have weakened her heart. Who knows. We'll just have to wait for the autopsy. I suspect this will drag out in the tabloid shows for weeks/months to come. I wonder how long it will be before a TV movie(s) about her life is made.

Yes agree with this. And her family (her own mother included) didn't seem to care about her at all when interviewed after Daniel's death. All a bunch of bitter country bumpkins, jealous of her lifestyle. I sure hope her Mother doesn't end up with custody of the baby.

Honestly, the guy creeps me out. I don't, however, think he killed either one of them (at least intentionally). He strikes me as being completely obsessed with her and I think he enabled her habits (as well as her son) because that's what she wanted.

I think so too.. sometimes I would think she was just trying to find herself in this world.. She was just a country girl and with all the money and publicity so much went so wrong..
