Wasn't quite sure where to put this. This year as my B-Day present I am going to do the Wild African Trek in AK with my mom. Was the experience worth it? Would u suggest anything or have any tips? Do you have a report about it that I could readd? Thank you in advace.

We did it last year and thought it was one of the absolute best things we've ever done at WDW! It's a great mixture of animal watching, adventure, and tasty and unusual food. Leaving the regular walkways in AK to trek through the woods was so much fun. Getting so close to a hippo and watching it eat was fantastic. If you like animals, you will thoroughly enjoy the experience.

As far as tips go, make sure you allow plenty of time to get to the meeting point for your tour with enough time to use the restroom. They claim they will leave you behind if you are late getting to the meeting point. Two guys in our group were late but they opted to hold up our group and wait for them instead.

Also, if the free Photopass CD is still part of the experience, be sure to get lots of Photopass pics all over, so you can add them to the CD.

We also completely enjoyed the Trek -- I did it for my 60th!!

My DD requested this as her birthday present too!

She is a HUGE animal fanatic and an avid "outdoorsgirl" so it sounds like a perfect fit for her. She is turning 9 on the day we come home from WDW so we're taking the trek earlier in the week. I booked us on the 8am tour so hopefully we will beat the heat.

Now, we just have to wait until June...11 weeks from today, as a matter of fact...until we leave.

We did this in December, and it is more than worth what we paid for it. Not only is the experience one of the best, but the CD of pictures they send you afterward is definitely worth the price of the trek!
