Mistitled my other thread.

Husband will love the food at Animal Kingdom, both the park and the lodges. I'm ambivalent, but would happily accompany him just to be able to watch the animals.

I'm sure ressies will be in order, and I'll try to make them while it's still light enough to see the animals.

We'll be going in October 2012.

Any suggestions for restaurants with great views of the animals? Can be any time, CS, TS, or signature. We'll be on the Deluxe Dining Plan, so we have the freedom to choose.

Thanks for any input!

Sanaa at AKV is the only restaurant with views of animals on the savanna.

And the view is not good once the sun goes down.

You can always come a litte early or stay a little late and see the animals before or after your meal. I mean while you are eating dinner, how much time would you really spend looking out of the window rather than eating or engaging in conversation?

If it's dark, there are viewing areas where they have night vision binoculars so you can see them that way. It is a BEAUTIFUL resort and well worth the trip.

As a PP stated, the only restaurant with views of the animals in the savannah is Sanaa (in our opinion one of the best TS restaurants in all of WDW). But if Indian/African cuisine is not to your taste, then by all means consider one of the other restaurants at AKL. There is something for every taste: Jiko is a fabulous signature restaurant with a great wine cellar. Bomas has (again in our opinion) one of the better buffets, and Mara has a very good selection of food if you just want to go counter service. Select one of these places then come early and stay late to view the animals at one of the viewing spots outside the resort buildings.

The OP has another thread stating she intends to eat chicken fingers and mac & cheese at Boma because she is not adventurous. Sanaa may not be the best place for her. they do have a burger on the menu (at least at lunch) but from what it says they serve it with naan bread, not on a regular bun. She can try ordering from the kids' menu too. I don't know whether or not Sanaa is one of the restaurants that will provide an adult portion of kids' menu food.

In that case, perhaps Mara might be a better suggestion.

I agree with minnie mum in that Mara will be a better choice. There is no way I'd pay Boma prices to eat chicken fingers and mac & cheese.
