Animal Kingdom meal voucher deal

What is this AK meal voucher deal? We're going in December. Hadn't been to these boards since March (our last trip) and we didn't think we'd be going again this soon...sort of an unexpected trip!

From what I understand...when you get to Animal Kingdom you go to one of the restaurants and for $10.99 for adults...not sure of the kids price...you get vouchers. One for a meal at any of the four restaurants in AK, including your beverage, a voucher for either popcorn or ice cream and a voucher for either a bottle of water or a bottle of soda. You have to use them at AK.

You do have to use them the day you purchase them......

We ate at Tusker house and our bill would have been 21.00 the meal deal came out to 23.99 for the 2 of us. Now if you add on the 2.39 plus tax for the popcorn and 2.50 for the soda/water you more than save here........as I said, this is a GREAT deal. With our meal they even gave us a large soda not the smaller size that we would have naturally ordered.

This was with the meal we purchased. The soda coupon is to be used at the outside soda carts.....however I must admit we didn't even try to use the soda coupon at a restaurant without purchasing a meal. The meal voucher includes a drink and this is when we got the large size soda.

Are these a better deal than the Q & C vouchers? I was planning on using Q & C vouchers at Tuskers but maybe i should save them for elsewhere?

They are about equal for the places that take them in the AK.
The Q & C vouchers are great value at other places in WDW like B&C but the AK meal voucher deal can only be used in the AK park.

You can not use them for Donalds breakfast. They are for lunch only at any of the Counter Service restaurants

With Connections, you can get an entree, dessert and drink at Tusker house. These work well for me when sharing a meal since I have a hard time finishing dessert by myself right after a meal. The cakes and pies and Tusker house look good.

For the same price, the AK meal deal will give you an entree and drink for lunch. You can choose to have ice cream for dessert later in the day when you are hungry again. I enjoyed the soft serve ice cream in Africa while watching the acrobats. You may also choose an infamous Mickey bar or popcorn.

The meal deal also allows me to grab a bottle of Powerade on the way out of the park at the end of a day. It is a nice change from water and pop on a hot day.
