Animal Kingdom Lodge Savannah View Rooms Are Not Worth It

We stayed twice at AKL. We did get to see giraffes in the moonlight out our window!
Our first stay at AKL was amazing, the second time was disappointing because housekeeping completely skipped our room two days in a row on a weekend trip (we booked a regular room, not dvc), the very long hallway on a knee injury and the construction in the hallways.

Add me to the group that doesn’t understand how anyone could expect to be able to see animals at night. I thought it went without saying that you wouldn’t be able to see them in the dark.

Dis you ask to be close to the lobby? We were there right after I injured an ankle snd when I asked and explained the situation, they put us closer to the lobby.

This is your opinion. I have stayed at jambo and kidani too many times to remember. Loved every single stay. Yes, the animals move around and can’t be seen at night. But, we have never had a savannah view villa where we didn’t see animals.

I agree that savanna view rooms aren't necessarily worth it at Jambo, but that's just because you can get decent partial savanna views from many standard view rooms.
Or excellent animal view rooms from certain standard view rooms. We had animals right outside our standard view balcony 24/7, because we were next to a feeding station.

You got lucky. The 2 times we have had standard view, we haven’t been.

We stayed a couple nights at animal kingdom lodge in a savannah view room recently. There is one thing I havnt read much about when it comes to people reviewing the rooms and thats the fact that you can see none of the savannah when it gets dark. There are no lights. And its not just dark its like black, not 1 thing you can see. And Im sure that has to do with letting the animals sleep but it effectively makes the premium you pay for the view only half the day. Especially since I was there in December and it gets dark early. Also, we are not early risers but still enjoy the balcony when we wake. There arent a ton of animals out and about either. We saw a couple zebras , a giraffe, and a couple others and we were pretty close to the main lobby overlooking the main savannah. So for those that are debating between standard and animal view, Id suggest saving the money and go standard.
Also we did a split stay with wilderness lodge and that resort was so much more beautiful and places to see compared to animal kingdom lodge. Usually price wise they are similar so I would highly recommend staying there. The beauty of the lake and lodge theming with the boat access to magic kingdom made a huge difference.
Just my 2 cents. Also we are talking creme de la creme of resorts so whatever you decide, you will still enjoy the resort.

I honestly cannot imagine what you saw at WL that rivals AKL....? Could you enlighten me?

I agree that AKL is general to me is not worth the price. We stayed this past Oct. and obviously the room was nice, but that's really the only positive I have to say about the resort. - Bell Services was also the best we've had at any Disney resort, but the rest of the CMs were not great and some were actually kinda rude. I don't think we'd be back...we liked seeing the animals, but like you barely saw them because we were out and about.
I was thinking of staying kidani in July in a 1 bedroom savannah view but after seeing the price of almost $8000 for a week including park tickets I can’t justify the price as much as my wife and I love animals.

Am I the only one who saw animals at night? Not perfect viewing, but there were some eating and walking around 🤷🏻‍♀️

We stayed there a couple of summers ago just for 1 night. I woke up in the middle of the night and sat outside on the balcony for a little bit. There were animals out there right underneath our window.
