Does anyone know if they are moving people to Yacht club??

I agree that WDW is magical no matter what or where you stay, but when you pay thousands of dollars I think most would agree that you'd rather stare at a zebra than a bulldozer!

We didn't want to move and were told today that we had too...so I am very happy to at least still be going and to still get the deal that we paid for.

We are there the same time period you are. Did they actually tell you that you HAD to change resorts?

I'm checking in on July 8th, they haven't called me...But I'm sticking with AKL if they do. I'll be at the parks in the day...so the noise maybe will not affect me that much. It's AKL anyways. And like some people have said already, IT'S Disney! Part of the magic depends of our attitude and how much we want to have FUN! So ...I'M READY FOR MY VACATIONS!!!! 2 more days!!!! BRING IT ON!! HEHEHEHE

This is what I am thinking what do you really do at the resort other than sleep and the construction is only during day when we will be at the parks.

Not everyone does spend the day in the parks, so construction during daytime hours could be an issue. Those with young children who need nap times could be greatly affected. With your type of vacation plans, it doesn't sound like it will be any bother. I think everyone is looking at their own individual needs though and making the best decision for their family.

My TA called and Disney said all constuction is done by 5pm every day so I dont believe I will ever come in contact with it. I hope everyone has a wonderful time at Disney no matter where you stay. SilverAngel you must be so excited leaving in 2 days. I wish you and your travel partners the best and a safe trip.

I'm trying to remain optimistic, we check in on 8/20. Last I talked to a CM and she was trying to get me to move, I asked if I was being forced to change resorts and she said no. I know that things change, but we really have our hearts set on surprising the kids with AKL. The way I look at it, I have a 6 year old boy who will be fascinated by the construction vehicles!

Ours is 8/19 to 8/25. And we were told we HAD to move and that there was no room for us at AKL.

What's up with the bulldozers? I thought they were upfitting rooms on higher floors. From the pics I've seen, the new savannah at Kidani isn't really visible from Jambo SV rooms, so I don't understand how that is a problem.

When we were there in December, they were just starting construction. Our first room had a horrid view of a chainlink fence and a big pile of dirt. They were able to accommodate us but I can definitely see why they are moving people. We got moved to the other side of the resort and it was wonderful.

My guess is that this is all being handled internally. I'm picturing a layout of the resort and spreadsheets showing all rooms available. Guests are probably being pre-assigned a room and those that don't get an assignment are the ones being contacted. I think at this point, if you haven't been called, the only reason for concern would be if you really didn't want to stay there. As we've seen posted, some people have plans for the daytime hours and don't think they'll be bothered by the construction. If you feel differently though, you may want to call and speak with the person who is handling the moves.

We booked in April. Std view. If you called and were told that you were good, then stop worrying. I have read plenty of reports that people are having wonderful stays at AKL and that the construction is not bothersome. I've read that it has been bothersome to some at the resort during the day. There is a link on the JAMBO thread to a blog of the person who was the first one to check into the new villas. They released 10 rooms on July 1 or 2, so don't freak out. DVC people are starting to stay at AKL!! The resort is up and running and in working order. I've read that they did some rearranging of the animals for those that are more noise tolerant, etc., and that the animals are still around. I think it just got overbooked for the number of rooms that are available while construction is going on due to changes in construction schedule. We went to AKL in March, so it doesn't break my heart to move. We loved it, obviously we would go back. But I am not sorry to be switched, I am excited to visit a new resort, and I am really excited about BC, where we are staying. I am equally excited to not have to pay the BC price to stay there. I rest easier now, having my situation settled and so I look forward to our vacation again and I am not worrying. And if my moving helps others stay, then so be it. Rest assured Disney wants to keep you coming back for more. Stop worrying.

I have a standard room in August, and I'm so scared they'll move me. I'll try to hold my ground.

Has anyone with a standard room been completely kicked out?

Has anyone with a standard room been told they won't be affected?

Yes, we did! It was an upgrade after we really looked at it. When we called to inquire about it, they (the special "AKL move team") told us that we would be effected and just hadn't been called yet. After finding that out We were going to be thrilled with whatever resort they sent us too. They asked where we had been before and where we wanted to stay in the future. The feel we got was that they are trying their hardest to get people what they REALLY want in case they can't stay at AKL.

I really hope I dont get changed, but say I did I would love to stay anywhere. Everyone should be happy we do not have to go work and we are on vaction.

We just got back from the AKL. Our stay was 6/26 to 7/3. I was concerned about the construction before we departed for the trip and we actually called disney and tried to switch resorts. They weren't offering us a switch, so we stayed with AKL.

I'm so glad we did. Yes, our balcony had full view of the villas construction in the backround of the savannah. In the early AM, there was tractor noise and beeping heard when sitting on the balcony. But aside from that, it was hardly noticed. They didn't work on the weekends, and they packed up at 4:30 or 5 pm on weekdays.

I was concerned that the animals would be scared off by the noise, but we saw loads of animals from our room.

My advice is if Disney says that you will be OK (like they told us), then you will have an AWESOME time at the AKL. I think it was a lot less crowded too.
