I have to say, this is a most remarkable resort. We had never stayed in a deluxe before, or even seen AKL, but it was well worth whatever we paid.
My DH & I were fortunate to have a week to ourselves. He has been incredi bly ill for the past almost-2 years, and nearly died last winter of a heart condition. He is finally doing pretty well, so my sister offered to stay with the kids for a week.
What a great sister--she flew all the way from Seattle to Atlanta while we go to WDW.
Due to DHs limited stamina, we knew we would have to take it slow. No commando-Disney this time. Like at Epcot--we went to Future World--had never even seen that side of the park before. We went into the little stave church at Norway and read all the signs.
We watched the Si Xian show at China, something our kids would have hated. And of course, the American Adventure, complete with Voices of Liberty singers. Instead of rushing around looking for rides, we enjoyed ourselves. We spent most of one afternoon at the GF spa having a massage and soaking in the hot tubs.
After a 2-hr nap DH was ready to go again. I think my favorite thing of all was eating at the different restaurants. I absolutely loved Boma! And the hostesses broke out in drumming and dancing during dinner, which really made our night. We went to the Hoop-de-doo Revue--thought it was too expensive to take the whole family, but will definitely consider it in the future. Le Cellier for lunch--walked right in, no PS. Fantastic food. Grand Floridian tea--OMG, this was fabulous.
We spent one evening visiting resorts. We went to Boardwalk and the Y&B clubs. Decided that we didn't like the Yacht club at all--too snooty. But the BEach club was nice. Stormalong Bay was much smaller than I had imagined. Went the Coronado Springs the next day and was pleasantly surprised that i actually liked it! The Dig site pool area was most fabulous for all ages. And they have little golf carts which shuttle you around the huge resort. I have never had any desire to stay there, but after spending an hour there we will definitly put it on our 'to do' list for the future.
Our last day we spent at Downtown Disney, just walking and shopping. Our kids would have hated it.
Ate lunch at House of Blues
I don't get it. I thought I would love it, but I didn't. It was the only iffy meal we had.
So there you have it. Our second honeymoon report. Most of it anyway...
