I am specifically interested in breakfast items for the AKL/AKV in-room dining, but if you have a review of lunch or dinner (or whatever) go ahead - we might try one of those, too. We'll be staying on DVC points in an AKV studio in a few weeks, and the in-room dining menu seems to have some nice sounding options and I've seen other people mention getting room service for breakfast to eat on their balcony and watch the sunrise and the animals. Sounds great. But nobody has really talked about the actual food! So... how is it? How big are the portions? How far in advance do you need to call to get something?

Thanks.

we had the fruit and cheese plate for an evening snack. IT was soooooo delicious. I'm pretty sure the cheese is the fried boursin cheese that you can get at 50's Prime Time as an appetizer. But this had more fruit and more of it. i sooo love that stuff lol

when we checked in AKL it was 10pm and we were all hunger so we had room service (food arrived within 20 mins) we had cheese platter, shrimp dish and cheeseburger for our son....it was all good. We had breakfast room service the next morning, we ate while watching animals (good breakfast and wonderful coffee). We had Jiko as room service too and it was fabolous...hope this helps.

Are you saying you can call room service and ask for entrees, apps, etc. that are on the regular Jiko menu??

We love Jiko but weren't planning to eat there this trip due to the lengthy meal it requires... it would be great to get room service so our kids could play in the room while we enjoy the great food.

We ate Jiko our second night and my husband loved it so for our last night our son was too tired to eat at the restaurant. We got our son from the regular room service and my husband and I got got room service from Jiko (my husband got appt and main course and I got appt, main course and dessert from Jiko)...it was wonderful and relaxing meal.

Sounds great. What did you have for breakfast? How large are the portions? Is the coffee the same they serve in the press pot in Boma perhaps? That's good stuff. :thumbsup2

The room service menu on AllEars does not show the Kenya AA coffee as an option, but I bet you can get it if you ask. You may even be able to call now and find out in advance.

Have a great trip!

My son got pancakes with bacon and chocolate milk (he loved it). My husband got the juice (the one that they serve at Boma and Tusker House), coffee and eggs. I got the same thing and it was good. I don't remember the coffee if its in the press pot but it was good coffee (does not taste like the one serve in GF)...The coffee was in a pot...it was a good coffee.
