My Mom called me tonight and said she got a postcard advertising a discount for deluxe resorts for January. I had been looking for a disount for AKL for 3 nights in January, but the lowest rate I saw for a savannah room was $275 per night.

I just booked using the code *** for $171 per night. I think the code starts January 4 and it goes into February, but I didn't get the last date, sorry!:(

Just wanted to share this info with others who might be looking for it and I hope you find it useful.

WARNING: It took me an hour to book this reservation! They are having computer issues this evening. They hired new reservationists and she said there are 500 of them on the system this evening and it's overloaded. So if you call tonite, beware it may take you a long time to book.

Watch Out using someone elses postcard. There is usually a pin number and the card is only for the person who it is addressed to. Just an FYI!

That is a great rate however.

I have just tried to book with this code. You need a PIN, which I do not have.

Gave me WL woods view for $139.40 per night. Had confirmation, when I asked if I needed a PIN they said Yes, at check-in. Since I have no PIN it is no good. :( :( :(

I have to admit, this whole postcard/AP watch is really starting to get on my nerves.

They never asked me for a pin. And I told my Mom to read me the whole post card and she never read a pin.

Sorry.

I figured it was worth a try.:(

I would make sure when you check in that you have the postcard.

I will, thanks. :) I called Mom and told her not to throw it away. I'll take it with me. Hopefully they won't bust me for it, since it did go to my Mom.

I am surprised they are being so strict. I wonder how many DELUXE hotel rooms could they possibly fill without discounts in January? We go every January and Disney World is comparatively a ghost town there compared to other times of the year.

How cold is it usually in January?

It can vary considerably. Last year they had a record cold where it got down to the 30's but that lasted a day. Most days are high 60's-low 70's- perfect park weather- and occassionally it nudges 80 and we sneak in a water park. We usually stay 2 weeks total so we have always been lucky enough to get some good weather in there somewhere.

And no matter how cold it gets there, it's still usually about 30-40 degrees warmer than what it is here in New England! :D

Me too. :( I don't think I'll ever buy another AP.

I'm so frustrated, I'm starting to wonder what some of the AG's around the country would have to say about how Disney structures this...

My guess is they'd look at it and say that everything is perfectly legal. Disney's literature on the passes and their promotional materials clearly states that the additional benefits outside of park admission are based on availability and subject to change without notice. Caveat Emptor! Targeted marketing via mailing of special one time offers is also perfectly acceptable. I too am bummed at the change in Disney's marketing strategies, but it doesn't reach the level of illegal business practices.

I have been anxiously awaiting AP rates and low and behold, my DH received a postcard in the mail yesterday for AKL and WL for January! It's strange, because he NEVER signs up for anything, I am always putting my name down for Disney online, etc..
So, after being patient with a new CRO and being on the phone for about 45 min, we were able to get AKL savannah view 1/14-1/18 for $171 (with tax) per night!!!:teeth: We needed the code and the pin number on the card.
We are thrilled, because on WDW's website, the rack rate for that time with tax is around $309 per night-what a deal!
I love saving money like this-such a good feeling!:goodvibes
And we got RT airfare for $156 from Chicago!

So much for waiting for AP rates!

just for the record, I have used a card rate that was not sent to me. so have many people that I know (at least 4 others).

I just got a postcard on Saturday for the deluxe resorts from $109.00. I called and got Polynesian Gardenview for $199 including tax per night for the last week of January. The CM only asked for the three letter code on the card but the pin number was never mentioned. The card was addressed to my husband.

I wish I had a postcard too. I've been checking the mail each day with my fingers crossed....

I am still trying to figure out how to get a postcard or even an e-mail. PLEASE oh PLEASE send some pixie dust my way!

never, never received a postcard......how sad that is!!!
And, to think, I have gone to wdw annually for the past 17 years! Makes me want to cry.
Got AKL AP, but had to take the deluxe savannah room(wanted standard savannah). Got PC with CTH code for our grown children.
