Animal Kingdom Lodge and Cruise Question

We are WDW vets but are new to the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We will be doing a land then sea vacation and am wondering what is the best way to hit a walmart or equivalent prior to our cruise?

Should we rent a car or take a cab? Can you even rent a car at the AKL?

Any suggestions would be welcome and thank you in advance.

I think proximity wise there is a Walmart pretty close to AKL. But, for a cost factor, I'm not sure how much a taxi would cost to take you there from AKL. Maybe $10? But if you ask them to wait it will be more. If they don't wait then you have to find another one. You can't rent a car from AKL. However, I think that Alamo will come pick you up and take you to their location on site near MK. Hope this helps.

You can rent a car at the Dolphin or car care center. I'm pretty sure they will come get you. How are you getting to the cruise? Have you thought about renting a car for the whole trip. It might be cheaper than a DCL transfer. I have rented from Alamo for as little as 11.00 a day.
