If you are staying in animal kingdom lodge the entire stay of your trip, do you still have to buy tickets for all the after hour activities in in animal kingdom lodge since you are already there?. I am new to all of this! Thanks!

The lodge is the resort. Animal Kingdom is a seperate park. You must have a ticket for daily entry into Animal Kingdom and a ticket for all hard ticketed events like After Hours. Extra Magic Hours, the extra hour added to a theme park a day or two a week, is free for anyone with a ticket staying on property. You must have a ticket to enter any park.

If you are talking about the extra activities at the resort, like tie-dye/nighttime safari at the resort/etc, yes, you must still pay for those.

I think you are confusing Animal Kingdom Lodge, the resort with Animal Kingdom, the theme park. They are two separate entities. A stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge does not get you free entry into Animal Kingdom. You need to pay for park tickets and any hard-ticket or add-on events you are interested in experiencing inside the theme park.

We have the park hopper pass....

Park hopper means that you can visit any/all the parks within the day. It doesn't include Disney After Hours or parties. As noted, those are separate tickets that are purchased in addition to your daily park entry tickets.
For instance, we're there for 5 nights/6 days. We have a 5 day park hoppers, MK has an after hours event on 8/1 our first day, so I bought tickets for that event and will use our regular park tickets starting 8/2 to visit a park on our departure day. I could have chosen the arrival day to use the regular park tickets but we would not have been able to stay for the extra hours unless I also purchased the tickets for that event.

Animal Kingdom Lodge resort hotel is completely separate from Animal Kingdom park.

There are perks for staying at any Disney resort hotel, but none specific to individual hotels. There are some extra hours when a park is open early/late just for Disney resort guests, but that's regardless of hotel. ...Plus, those seem to be dwindling lately.

There are activities at AKL hotel, but I think you are referring to the theme park special events and not the hotel? Could you confirm that?

At all the theme parks, special events require separate tickets, so regular park tickets (with or without hopper passes) won't let you in.

Hope that helps. :-) Have a great trip!

Yes I was referring to the theme park. How far off property is the theme park from the lodge? What lodge activities would you recommend for children 7 and 9? They are so excited they can hardly contain them selves! I

I think 7 and 9 is such a perfect age for WDW! Probably because that's how old I was when I first went!

Anyway, if you look at this map you'll see how close the hotel is to AK park.

...Maybe a ten minute drive all in? Though someone else should be able to confirm. (If you're getting the bus, it depends, of course, on when the bus arrives to pick you up!)

I don't know about the hotel activities. Have you checked out this thread all about Animal Kingdom Lodge?

We're staying at AKL, too. I'm so excited! You'll find an activities schedule at the resort when you check in. They note times for feeding flamingos, cultural presentations by CMs from the countries they live, Boma and Jiko combine for a short culinary tour with a small sample of food served, nightly movies, campfire, pool activities, etc. These are all included in the stay. Other activities will have a fee.
I tried to attach May's schedule but it's not working. Google "animal kingdom lodge activities May (or June) 2019" and you should be able to find a PDF.

Nice! I have browsed the threads to be honest. We will be al bus, we are flying in and not renting a car.
