DO ANY OF THE RESORTS OR RESTAURANTS DO ANYTHING SPECIAL IF YOU ARE CELEBRATING YOUR ANNIVESARY. IT IS OUR 11TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY THIS YEAR :chat: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Congratulations! We celebrated our 9th at WDW last year. They left us a rose in a vase on our anniversary when we stayed at the Poly. We did the luau last year and they ask you to come up for a dance if you are celebrating an anniversary or recent marriage. It's kind of embarassing but cute. The Garden Grill also has the rehitching ceremony which sounds cute. I haven't done it, but I'll be doing it this year.

I think it all depends on the CMs where you are staying, every year we visit for our anniversary and have never had anything special done, even though they knew it was our anniversary (we told them). But you have to think, there are tons of people having special days every day at WDW, so I doubt they would do it for every single birthday, anniversary, etc.....Don't be disappointed if nothing is done for your anniversary, but be very grateful if something IS. I made sure I did something special for my DH one year, I called in a PS for the Garden Grill and requested the rehitchin ceremony and they noted it on my ressie. When we arrived that day, I didn't say a word to them about it, and then just when I thought nothing would happen, it did and what a surprise it was for my DH, and even for me! So that is a suggestion of a little surprise you can do for your special day.

BTW, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! :earsgirl: :earsboy:

I remember when we stayed at the Poly for my parent's 40th anniversary, my husband and I told them plenty of times it was their anniversary. We thought maybe they might do something special - they didn't. So we arranged for them to go on the fireworks cruise and it was awesome. I wasn't upset with the resort because I know they have hundreds of people celebrating occasions everyday - but it would have been nice if they did acknowledge it.

hulabird...

Can you tell me a little about the rehitchin ceremony at the garden grille? I think I would like to suprise DH with a 25th year rehitchin during our Dec 2003 trip.

Thanks!

Pat

There is never a guarantee that anything will be done for you. You're much better off planning something yourself--maybe flowers from the Disney Florist, or a couples massage at the spa. that way you're covered, and if your resort does something, it's icing on the cake.

Other posters have hit the nail on the head, DO NOT EXPECT them to do anything...After all can you imagine how many anniversarys and birthdays are celebrated by WDW guests??? It would be impossible to please everyone, it would be impossible to verify the accuracy of many of these and let's face it, some people would cheat, and it would not be a cost effective way of doing daily business.

I think it best to make them aware of it in as simple of manner as possible and then make arrangements for any special treats yourself...

A few years ago we celebrated our 10th anniversary at the California Grill. I told everyone from the booking agent on the phone to the hostess to the waiter, and we got a window table with that spectacular view of the castle lit up by fireworks. (I'm not sure if this was anniversary-related, or just lucking out).

If you don't mind being the center of attention for a moment or two, they do make a big deal out of these things at the Hoop de Doo Revue..and the kids get a big kick out of watching their blushing parents!
:D

It's very true not to expect anything special, but if they don't even know about it, they can't do anything for you if possible. Tell them when you make your res's, your PS's, at resort check-in, or when you check-in for a PS. I did this for our 30th anniv. last summer at the GF and all of our PS's. We were pleasently surprised several times. At check-in we were upgraded to a room with a lagoon/MKview. We could watch the fireworks from our room. On our last night there, we ate dinner at CRT and ended up with the center window table. Awsome!! Upon returning to the GF, they had roses and champain in our room waiting for us.

Our son and his new bride just returned from their honeymoon at the GF. When he made the res's, I told him to have them include on it that it was their honeymoon. When they checked in, they were upgraded to the Honeymoon Suite. At Norway, they sang a special Norweign(sp?) love song to them during dinner and gave them a special dessert.

All of this said, ASK and you might be surprised as to what is done for you. It dosen't hurt to let them(WDW) know this is a special trip to you.

After reading so many posts about how people "expect" perks and are almost "mad" that they didn't get them, I think the advice is good. Don't expect anything. We went for a belated 25th in December and I asked for a "lagoon" side water view at the Boardwalk Inn, as I wanted something special for our anniversary. I didn't expect anything, but we got balloons and a card from Mickey and Minnie. Cute.

But again, it's best to "make" your own magic!!! Anything else is definitely topping on the cake and will only cause you disappointment and sometimes even people seemed angered, for not recieving something. Not worth wasting time on a wonderful vacation with those negative emotions over really nothing.

Hi! We just got back from celebrating our 15th Anniversary at the AKL. When I made the ressies the CM asked if it was a special occasion and I told them yes - at the the hotel they sent a cake to our room. Very nice touch and it was a total surprise!!

I had also made ressies at Artist Point and Le Cellier - the CM asked me again if was a special occasion and I told them, yes - well at both restaurants we got a dessert - compliments of the staff. Also at Artist Point the menu was personalized with our name and Happy Anniversary - a wonderfu keepsake!

We did not expect anything but was pleasantly surprised by the special touches. I would not have mentioned the special occasion had the CM not asked - but I'm glad they did!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
