Carol - that was just mean of the Ravens to not let the Steelers win.

Wonder of wonders, I actually cooked a full meal, too! I used Stephanie's yummy crock pot recipe for the roast with french onion soup. It was fantastic! Everyone loved it - thanks Steph!

MP - you are cracking me up today!

Sandi - any pictures to show us of the work being done? It all sounds beautiful!

MP...the fly paper thing sounds like something I would do.

We managed to pick about 7 pounds of apples, but the raspberries were picked over....no more picking them until next week some time. They looked great, but I am not driving all the way back to the orchard just for a pint of berries.
Scrappers, take note of Sam's shirt. I am obviously obsessed. I wouldnt let him wear his new TDS t-shirt today, it would not have matched the apples, LOL

We stopped at a new house development and fell in love with one of them. There are too many obstacles to actually think about buying, but if we could....4 BR, 2 1/2 bath, full basement, LR, DR, eat-in kitchen / great room, den (aka scrapbook room), and so on. Maybe someday.

Lou is making chili for dinner, Sam is watching a movie in his room, and I am getting ready to watch dome of the Emmys pre-show.

I have lots of tickets available for the CHICAGO CUBS series this week in Pittsburgh. Anyone interested in seeing the Pirates vs. the CHICAGO CUBS ? Bonus fireworks night on Wednesday, too...

4-5# top round roast (you can also use any of the more tender "pot roast" cuts. Round cuts are the better of the pot roast cuts.)
1 can of french onion soup
1 can of cream of mushroom soup

Sear the roast in a pan with a small amount of oil and garlic


mix both soups in the bottom of the crock pot. Toss in the roast.

Cook on low for 6-8 hours


the soups plus the juices make the most fabulous gravy....which we then used the second night as the base for the beef stew.


super simple, and super tasty.

Back from the races......another LONG day.....we left at 5;30 this morning.

Had an "okay" time. It was FREEZING here in NH today!!

I'm exhausted, so I"m heading for my nice warm bed and an extra blanket....ttyl

I made the Steph's roast the other night, too. It was quite tasty. I had a recipe for making the same thing with stew meat. You serve it over mashed potatoes or noodles and it goes over well at our house, so I was glad to try it with a roast. Yum!

Alan, you are bad. But you have me laughing. My hair is still sticky. I'm wondering if I'll ever get the goo out of it? The worst part is that it didn't catch a single fly - just me.

Dh informs me that today is "International Talk Like A Pirate Day". So maybe we should all pull out our copies of POTC? Aarrrr!

Love the pic with the apples. It's going to look great on a scrapbook page. Thank goodness none of my family thought of a camera when I had a fly strip in my hair!

Baseball and fireworks sounds lovely. Wish I was closer.

Glad that no major damage was done, Sandi. But mud and muck can be such a pain to clean up.
