Good morning everyone!! I'm with Sandi, weekends go by way too quickly!!!

Good morning everyone.

While your kids are enjoying summer vacation, my 2 have exams this week. The first one is today.

Foggy here this morning. We were all freezing this weekend, wearing jeans and sweatshirts in JUNE! I hope it warms up a bit today.

Steph, their last day is a Monday? That stinks.

Welcome to HerPIC and twerp. (Twerp, you seem to be beside yourself today.)

Good morning folks! I just sent my DS off for the day with some crazy internet lady named Sue. She IS crazy for volunteering to take 4 boys to the Science Center all by herself today! God Bless her.

Steph - you let this go by?????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lars - my DH was a HUGE Dale Sr fan too - he took the loss hard also.

MP - I guess Amy isn't in a big hurry to go see HP???

Working today, Tuesday and Wednesday. DH has this week off, so I thought I would take advantage and get some extra hours. We rented "The Last Samurai" over the weekend. I loved this movie - lot of action and a good storyline. DH isn't a Tom Cruise fan, but he actually liked it too.

Enjoy the :sunny: everyone!

BTW, if any of you know of anyone selling a flute in good condition, let me know. Leah is starting lessons in the fall. I can rent them through a few music stores, but if I can get a good deal on a used one, I'd rather go that route.

Relax LK~At least she's not the one who has the cats:cat: :cat: :cat: :cat:

Lorraine, I've been meaning to rent that movie as well! I have heard such good things about it!!! Tom Cruise is only a bonus ;)

LK, you can search the internet or maybe e-bay for a flute. Truthfully though, I am *not* a fan of used instruments at all. Unless you buy one from someone trusted who has reconditioned it, I wouldn't do it. I can tell you my flute was passed on to someone who needed it for marching band and didn't mind how ick it had gotten. My personal preference for flutes is silver and not nickel plated (for sound) though. And in reality I am looking for a replacement flute as I miss playing it. I personally wouldn't mind getting a flute since I used to fix and sort of "recondition" them myself (you can learn a lot after 14 years of playing) Sorry for the long ramble ;)

Matthew uses his father's old trumpet. We had in all fixed up & it's been working fine for him for the last 4 years.

Morning all
Summer vacation has started here. We will probably go to the pool today, after I finish planting my flowers in the front yard.

I tried opening the garage sale again on Saturday, but I was competing against a 150+ house neighborhood sale about 2 miles from here, so I had very little traffic. I did sell a few things to those people, but it wasnt really worth it to sit in my garage and twiddle my thumbs all day. So we packed it in at about noon. Dumped some of the stuff, packed up some, and took the rest to a chairty drop box.

Yesterday my neice had her ballet recital, the really little kids were cute, but the rest of it was blah. At least they chose good music (stuff from Lilo and Stitch and Smashmouth's version of I Wanna Be Like You)

After that we went to Gurnee Mills, the big mall about an hour from here. I heard they had a new scrapbook store and wanted ot check it out. Wouldn't it figure I ran into one of my scrapping co-workers from Disney. As she intorduced me to her boyfriend she added 'she's the one who started me on scrapping' He got this look on his face like 'oh, youre the one making her spend all my money' :)

Anyway, off to get Sam to do some worksheets. That's our agreement, he has to do a few worksheets every morning or we dont go to the pool.

Have a good day

Lars, I used my brother's old coronet for years as well. I guess I should have said I am not one for buying used from an unknown. Although at least with a trumpet if I did buy one used I could dunk it in a bath and clean it right... something about nasty stuff growing in used instruments bugs me to death. I used to clean out used/borrowed brass and it was disgusting :(

Bethany, sorry about the sale... too bad you had such competition!

My clarinet originally belonged to my cousin....we had it refurbished and I got many years of use out of it ...... I actually still have it - it still makes "noise" but would need another refurbishing to make some music :p

According to my page-a-day calendar they are celebrating the
Queen's Birthday in NZ today ....... time to party !

We've been looking on e-bay for about a week, just checking out the various auctions on flutes. The music teacher provides you with a list of the better quality instrument names. He did say do NOT buy the cheap ones at Costco. E - thanks for the advice on silver vs. nickel plated. How about closed keys vs. open holed keys? I never knew there were so many differences in flutes!
