And yet another question...DVC and AP help?

Okay...I can't find an answer for this and not sure if anyone will know it, but if anyone does it'll be someone here at the DIS.

I've got a PAP that expires on June 1, 2006...bought with my DVC discount. I'm gonna get a trip to WDW in after all this year...in July. So, I'm debating about tickets...not sure if I'll make it back before an AP would expire in 2007, but IF the cost is less than MYW tickets for the upcoming trip I'll get another AP. The question is...I'm really not interested in the PAP again since I didn't use it as much as I thought so I'm more interested in the plain ol' AP. Does anyone know if I can renew (since renewal price is cheaper than a brand new ticket), but only get an AP instead of the PAP? IF not then I may just wait and get a new AP in July if the price is right.

I think when this question has been asked before DVC discounts, the answer was you could upgrade, but not go with a lesser product. Maybe someone will chime in with a more authoritative answer.

Thanks! I gathered this might be the case, which isn't a big problem. I'm just trying to get the best deal...and even if I have to start over with a new AP only...DVC rate is a little over $300 and it could save a few bucks on a room rate at one the other WDW properties.

I'm almost positive that you can get the renewal price and get an AP even though you have a PAP.

To be sure, post your question on the Theme Parks Board and see if Golden Oldie will reply. She is the resident expert on tickets.

The DVC discount doesn't matter - if you can renew a regularly-priced PAP and get a regularly priced AP, the policy will be the same for the DVC-discounted passes.

Thanks everyone! I did find my answer...actually called the Ticket Center this morning...it seems that I can downgrade from PAP to AP, BUT if I want to renew again (or during the AP use year) want to go back to a PAP I will not be able to do so. Well, now I just have to see which way will be less...7 day MYW with park hopper and expiration or AP with DVC renewal price...
