Back this afternoon from another absolutely wonderful stay at Hotel New York

In traditional style.....

Highs
Hotel New York - as good as ever
The newly refurbed Castle looking stunning
Lewis meeting Captain Jack
Fantilusion - fantastic parade spot :thumbsup2
Seeing the park lit up and the Enchanted Fireworks
Our Cityrama day trip to Paris
Rainforest Cafe
The kids smiling from morning 'till night
The weather - no rain until our very last hour in the park (and even that was nothing to us being used to getting soaked all the time )

Lows
Honestly cannot think of a single one :wizard:

I'll start my trip report in the next day or two once I'm sorted ;)

Welcome back, so glad you enjoyed your trip. The HNY is my favourite hotel, I wanted to stay there for my upcoming trip but it was booked:sad2:

I look forward to your TR:goodvibes

Looking forward to your TR. Fab pics on the hotel review thread. Lewis has stretched since your last TR!

I'm new here but hi! Sounds like a great trip. Thinking of going to HNY this December so looking forward to reading your report

Wow it sounds like a great trip. Do you have any tips for anyone planning a trip at this busy time of year?

I think you just need to take your time. If you've been many times before, like us, then you'll not be too bothered if you can't do the rides you want. We only did BTM once on this trip which is just not like us - but I would not waste my holiday waiting 75 mins for a ride. We were unlucky with the fastpass times, but when we did manage to get one it was very quick to get on.

Use the arcades at the side of Main St. We always do this and it cuts the time right down for getting to Frontierland especially.

Quiet parade spot is outside Bella Notte, near A Small World. Despite our many visits, we always ended up in Main St for the parade with huge crowds. I could not believe how quiet this was for Fantillusion. Then afterwards, don't follow the parade down Main St. Go backwards into Discoveryland, where it was empty and we managed to do SM and Orbitron before watching the fireworks.

EMH - be there for 8. I cannot stress this enough. Even by 8:30 queues were building for Dumbo/Buzz etc. This was the only time of the day my DS could get on Peter Pan.

just finished reading your trip report...looks like you had a great time :goodvibes we are going to do the same as you and drive to disney and want to stay at folkestone overnight and go through the euro tunnel in the morning...I just want to know where did you stay for the night, and what sort of room did you get with you having five in your family?

We have six in our family, which includes a one year old, and want to do the cheapest option for the overnight stay. Travel lodges only have rooms for 4 i think ? This will be the first time we have driven so we're just trying to work things out. 7 weeks to go !!!!....... :woohoo:

We stayed at Ashford Travelodge. It's located just off the motorway and within a retail park, so close to a cinema and various restaurants.

We booked 2 rooms. Our kids are older though. I'm sure that your 1 year old would not count towards occupancy (in the same way at Disney). You might be ok with just 1 room.

We managed to get quite a good deal, £23.50 per room, but I've booked at lower prices than that in the past.

thanks for the reply. I just priced a room at ashford and it's coming up at £32.50 per room. They said that we must have 2 rooms. Do you know if the prices go up and down or are they generally fixed prices ?

It seems silly to have a whole extra room for the sake of one person. The prices we have to pay for having a larger than 2.4 children family :sad2:

Thanks for your reply, I had somehow managed to miss it before.
We only have a very short trip this time arriving Thursday afternoon and leaving mid morning on Saturday but we have just bought annual passes so we will be back next year:goodvibes and won't worry too much if we miss things. I have asked the kids to pick one thing each that they really want to do and will make them the priorities. Unfortunately for middle DD that is meeting Rapunzel so I think we will be in for a very long queue there:sad2:. We definately plan on being at EMH for 8 to get Orbitron, Buzz, Dumbo and Peter Pan done. Then just playing it by ear for the rest of the day.

We were going to watch the parade by Bella Notte on our last visit but decided on watching near the park exit instead so we could make a quick getaway so I think that will be a must this time:)
