And They Lived Happily Ever After - A June '11 Disneymoon TR! THE END - NEW PTR!

Bummer about not enjoying AP - we tried it on our last WDW trip and fell in love with it. But, I know how it is to not have a place live up to it's hype - that's how Narcoossees is for us :sad2:

The Wishes cruise sounds completely awesome though and the perfect finale to a fantastic honeymoon :thumbsup2

Super excited to hear what comes next!

Loved the update Courtney - sounded like the perfect way to spend your last full day, relaxing and wandering around Downtown Disney :goodvibes Shame about the cupcake from Baby-cakes, I've heard good things about it but we've not been to Pollo Campero or there yet.

I understand now why I didn't see you two at California Grill! :cutie: Interesting to read your review of Artist's Point, I'd like to try there sometime, we enjoyed Whispering Canyon Cafe last year and would like to explore WL more, such a beautiful resort :cloud9:

Totally agree about the view from the fireworks cruise boats - it was such a unique experience! I took some video of it as well as pictures but it was hard to capture the view :wizard:

Looking forward to last few updates and your future trip plans!

What a wonderful last day! So sorry you didn't enjoy AP, my DH and I ate there on our honeymoon and it was one of our favorites. We were not served cold food, however, so I'm sure that makes a big difference.

What a wonderful surprise with the fireworks cruise! I don't think I could have kept such a fun secret!

Sounds like you had a perfect last day of your trip :goodvibes

I didnt expect to like Pollo Campero that much, but I thought it tasted really good too!

I am sorry that Artist Pointe was a disappointment..I know you were looking forward to trying it out. The food looks really pretty in pictures, but its too bad it didnt taste as good :sad2:

The Wishes cruise looks like it was an AMAZING experience, I would love to try that sometime, it really looks like a memorable experience and a great way for you to end your honeymoon :goodvibes

So sorry you didn't like AP :( When we ate there 2 years ago, it was one of the best meals we've had at WDW. We all got the soup, a cheese platter, 3 salmons (best ever!), and I tried the cobbler but disliked it! My brother got some sort of beef which he loved as well. I swear every restaurant can be hit or miss!

I wonder who your captain was because my best friend's friend works the Wishes Cruises out of CR and WL! He was going to take us the one year when they weren't booked but it ended up storming so we never went!

I don't blame you for taking a break from the parks, even though it was your last day, you guys must have been exhausted!

Pollo Campero sounds great, but Babycakes sounds awful! :scared1: Everyone was so excited when that place opened, it's too bad they are not good!

Glad you liked WL! I'm surprised you didn't like Artist Point, everyone always raves about it, but it could have been an off night!

The Wishes Cruise sounds amazing! I would love to do one of those someday! :thumbsup2

I can't believe your TR is almost over! Your final day sounds perfect, despite the meal not being amazing..and that view of Wishes was fantastic!

What a fun meal at Akershus! We haven't eaten there yet.

What a line for SE! :scared1:

La Hacienda is on my 'next time' list also. Your pictures looked delicious!

How cool that you saw Wishes every night! Thats definitely my favorite fireworks display at WDW. :thumbsup2

What a wonderful, relaxing last day! I'm sorry to hear about your not-so-stellar reviews of AP but it sounds like your Wishes cruise certainly made up for it! :goodvibes

I can't believe after following your engagement, wedding and Disneymoon, its almost over! Can't wait to hear whats next!

ughhhhh. I was so far behind and now it's coming to an end. What an amazing honeymoon. And the WISHES cruise seems like a perfect way to end it. You are definitely making me want to try Hacienda. We need to get there some time.

The thing that stood out the most from this update is that you regularly sleep past 10 at home???? I'm so jealous!!!!

So WL? Would you ever stay there? It looks so pretty and I'm dying to be that close to MK but just wondering if it's special enough. Thoughts???

I always have to get a Mickey waffle as well when I go to Disney. I love them. I love to shop in DTD. I do too much damage when we go to shop there especially at their Christmas store. It is bad. I try to leave room in our luggage before we leave because I know I am going to need it with the shopping I do. Sorry to hear you both didn't like your entree. The pictures of the food look really good...haha What a nice way to watch Wishes. Very romantic. I would of had a hard time keeping it a surprise but it makes it so special. Great update!!

I can do quite a lot of damage at DTD, too! I really try to limit myself, though, because I rarely do anything with my souvies once I get home. I try to stick to t shirts and kitchen stuff now.

The cruise was wonderful. And it was very hard to keep it a surprise!

OMGosh, I can't believe your trip is coming to an end...so sad!!

I have to agree that your last day/night seemed like the perfect ending. I'm sorry that you didn't like Artist Point...but from the sounds of it, I don't think I would have either, though I do think my hubby would since he loves all that different kind of meat.

The Wishes cruise sounds absolutely perfect. I didn't realize that you would have a boat all to yourselves--that makes it even more romantic! And I thought your pics were pretty good!

I can't wait to hear the rest--especially what's next!

I'm sad, too! Although it seems like this report has been going on forever!

I think that you really have to like gamey meets and woodsy type flavors to like AP. It's a really pretty restaurant (we loved the atmosphere) but the food just didn't do it for us. :confused3

Everyone seems to love AP! I was sad that we didn't, but I should have known based on the menu. It's just not our type of food. :guilty: The cruise was the perfect way to end the trip! :cloud9:

Thank you! :goodvibes Haha, yes that's why we weren't at CG! I kept thinking while I was canceling, "but now I can't meet Emma!" After our AP experience I wish I had kept the Cali Grill ADR afterall. :headache:

It was a great last day! I think we are in the minority with our AP opinion. Everyone seems to love it!

The Wishes cruise was wonderful! I would highly recommend if it you get a chance. We loved it! :thumbsup2

That's what everyone says about AP! I guess it's just us. :confused3 But it's definitely true that every restaurant can have its good nights and its bad nights.

I can't remember our captain's name, but he was a young blonde guy who works as a life guard at the CR, too. He was really nice and a great captain!

I don't blame you for taking a break from the parks, even though it was your last day, you guys must have been exhausted!

We were pretty tired at that point. We seem to kind of fizzle out at the end of our trips! :lmao:

I was surprised we didn't like AP, too. I was expecting to love it after the way it's talked about here. I think it was just us!

I can't believe your TR is almost over! Your final day sounds perfect, despite the meal not being amazing..and that view of Wishes was fantastic!

It was an incredible view! It's hard to describe - it's so peaceful out there on the water with the whole MK in front of you. :cloud9:

What a fun meal at Akershus! We haven't eaten there yet.

I was so excited about seeing Wishes every night. On the second to last night when I wasn't sure if we would see it or not, I kept thinking that we just had to get back so that I could tell everyone on the DIS about my accomplishment! :lmao:

I can't believe it's almost over, either. But there's some fun stuff up next!

Haha - sadly, no, I don't get to sleep until 10 very often anymore. I still consider anything before that early, though! :lmao:

Hmmm, the WL. It's definitely a beautiful hotel, but it's just not my style. I am not a woodsy type of girl (you couldn't pay me to go camping), so I think most of the effect is lost on me. I'm not crazy about the decor there. Plus, they way I look at it, if you're going to be that close to the MK, you might as well just be on the monorail. I'd definitely pick AKL over WL (as far as the lodges go). But, if you like the look of the WL and would enjoy the theming, I think you'd love it. Everyone else seems to!

DEPARTURE DAY, FINAL THOUGHTS & WHAT’S UP NEXT

I must apologize in advance for the lack of pictures in my departure day post. I swear we took pictures, but I can’t find any! I’m thinking that we must have just used our cell phones, because there is no way that we went to an ADR without a camera. Sadly, we both have different phones now, so we’ll never know. I promise you aren’t missing out on much, though. Our departure days are always pretty boring!

The only thing on the agenda for the last day of our honeymoon was a breakfast ADR at ‘Ohana! I know a lot of people love to squeeze in a few more hours at the parks, but because we drive I am always too afraid that it would wear us out. Instead, we normally just wake up, load up the car and hit the road. This time, I did want to at least stick around for breakfast, though. I thought the perfect location would be ‘Ohaha’s. So, after we got dressed and got the bags ready to be loaded up, we made our way over to the GCH one last time and checked in for our ADR. Before long, we were led to our table, which once again was by the window!

I had really high hopes for this breakfast, mostly because we love dinner so much. It turned out to be our least favorite of the trip, sadly. I didn’t pick this ADR for the characters (I’ve never even seen Lilo and Stitch), but the interaction just wasn’t great. What really disappointed us though, was the food. It was the exact same food that they serve at Captain Cooks! So basically, the same CS food that I had been eating all week. The pineapple bread and the Mickey waffles were good, but that’s really all we enjoyed. Since we were both ready to get on the road, we didn’t stick around too long so I don’t think we even saw all the characters. While we love ‘Ohana, we will definitely stick to dinner in the future!

After breakfast we went back to our room and did all of the last minute packing and straightening up. Since I had an outfit specifically for breakfast, I changed in to some more comfortable driving clothes, transferred everything from my park bag to my real purse (I hate doing that) and looked around the room one last time. One of the things I really wanted to do on this trip was make our room feel more like home. After 11 nights there, it truly did feel that way! We were so sad to leave.

We managed to lug all of our bags out to the car at once, and before we knew it we were driving away. We soaked up the last bit of Disney that we could, and then it was on to I-4 and the road back to reality…

*****************************************************************

What can I really say about this trip? In short, this trip was the trip of a lifetime. Even though I planned it for a year, I felt like it was 3 years in the making. When Miguel and I took our first (very short, 2 night, 3 day!) trip to Disney back in 2008, I knew we had found something special - not just us and our relationship, but this place that we would just burst at the seams with happiness in. There is truly nowhere else where I love Miguel more than I do when seeing the pure joy on his face as we’re zooming around Test Track, flying around on Space Mountain or screaming on Expedition Everest. Having a place that brings so much of my past, present and future together is incredible.

I feel like I’m finally closing a book I’ve been writing for quite some time now! My very first TR about our engagement celebration trip, the PTR about the wedding and honeymoon, and then this – the story of how it all came together. Thank you so much to each and every one of you who has been here for this journey. I have loved getting to share every moment with you! I feel so blessed to be a part of this community of Disney lovers!

And now, as I said, it’s time to close this book and start a new one. So how about a new PTR??? This is going to be one TOTALLY different trip. It’s Disney like it used to be, and like it’s never been before. Hope to see you there!

Courtney,

I have enjoyed your TR so much! Reading your TR for your honeymoon has made me anxious for my own in July! I am definitely making my trip a completely different one and not at all like the trips I've taken all my life. Thanks for letting me follow along on your beautiful honeymoon! I feel better prepared for my own! :cloud9:

Can't wait to start following along on your new PTR!!! :goodvibes

I can't believe it's over!!!:sad1: But, having the new PTR to read makes it all better!!

I'm so sad that you didn't enjoy 'Ohana for breakfast--it's one of my favorites. We love the food there, and Stitch is one of my favorites. I can see why you weren't excited about the food though, since it was the same stuff you'd been eating all week.

Thanks so much for taking the time out of your busy schedule to share your trip with us. I have to agree that it definitely seemed like the trip of a lifetime, and the most magical honeymoon ever!

Okay, so I'm off to get started on the PTR!!:yay:

:thanks:

Thoroughly enjoyed reading about your wedding & Disneymoon. I'll be heading over to your PTR shortly!

I can't believe it's over! It was a great TR and an amazing Disneymoon, I only wish I put that much thought and effort into mine, but we didn't have a lot of time to work with, unfortunately! :confused3 I'm glad you have another trip coming up so soon! :cool1:

Courtney, thank you for sharing your adventures with us! I love your writing style and how you truly paint a full picture of the trip! So excited for your new PTR!

I have really enjoyed reading along with your TR, thank you for sharing your trip with us :goodvibes

LOVED being able to be on the journey through reading about it here on the DIS :) Going over to your new PTR now :)

As sad as it is that your TR is over, at least you have a new trip to look forward to. :) Gonna head over to your PTR now.
