morning..
Still no AP rates yet for May ...but I dont care...as long as we are going to Disney ..I am happy..
We did our air last night and got pretty good rates from Maine to Orlando..343 per person round trip..
That means we are one step closer to DISNEY...and warm weather...

Yesterday the weather here was in the 50s...made some of the snow melt and be muddy in places...tomorrow is another snow/sleet deal...YUCK...

Hope everyone has a good week

Pumba aka Marie

Pumba: I just noticed when you joined the Dis!! I feel like a baby!:rotfl: All our snow has melted here, but boy is it cold again.

Congrats Candace that is FANTASTIC :lovestruc

Miss M making Margaritas :rotfl: so cute! Glad DH is OK

Hope that call comes soon Marie!!!!

Have NO clue about DL but I know offsite can be just as close to the parks from what I've read...saving LOTS of $$$$ :goodvibes

We also decided to skip Universal too!!!! Leaving me to replan our trip :cool1: I've been looking offsite and at WBC what a savings...but I need my Disney Magic  UGH

Pas: offsite??? Interesting!popcorn::

My mini-margarita bartender is back in school. (She made mine in an old sippy cup from her kitchen set yesterday... complete with a Disney glowcube. :lmao: )

... oh you guys. I need ideas.

Hubs 40th is this October. :rolleyes1 I know we talked about waiting to go back until January but ... ya know. I can't NOT do something nice for his birthday, right? :lmao: Whatcha think? It'd have to be something short-ish. The thought of the Halloween party is nice but not ON Halloween since that'd be crazy-busy and we like the lighter crowds. Maybe I should look at alternate locations... Seattle? I keep going back to Disney in my mind, obviously. :confused3

Miss: Is your DH 's birthday on Halloween? That is DD4 birthday! What about Las Vegas?? We would love to take a short weekend getaway there someday!

What about a quickie Caribbean trip?

Candace: Thanks for having my back on that other thread, you never know when you are going to get flamed out there!:duck:

Jen

Marie- I think I said this before, but we really enjoyed the grand Californian when we stayed there a couple of summers ago. It was connected to DCA and DTD wad out the other gate. It was beautiful and the location couldn't be beat :)

I just noticed that I was I unsubscribed for a day... No wonder I didn't have much action yesterday:)

Vegas was my first thought as well. I've been twice with the DH, the last time was over our 10th wedding anniversary. We loved it!!

If you want to keep it Disney, and don't want to do WDW, you could try DL. If you want to do something romatic, without the kids, there is a place in Mexico I want to try. It's called El Dorado Royal. It's an adults only resort and spa. They have rooms called "swim up suites" that inside them have your own jacuzzi and king size beds. Ouside you have two lounge chairs that are in water on the edge of the lazy river. Basically, what I have been told, is that you can use the lazy river to get to the main pool and then use it to get back to your room. You could always just walk, but why do that when you can float in a lazy river.

Us RC'ers have to stick together!!! If one goes down, we all go down. :thumbsup2

But, I also agreed with you. ;)

Mousemommy - YC CL!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1: I think you are going to love it!

chimo2u - Keeping my fingers crossed for you! I hope you get good news very soon! :goodvibes

Missoutandabout - Miss M makes margaritas? You are one lucky momma! ::yes:: Of course I vote more Disney for hubby's 40th! :rolleyes1

padawans - I am also at that place where I need to reign in my next trip so that I can afford the one after that too. I realized I will not be able to resist taking a 3rd trip on these AP's. At least I'm being honest with myself. :hyper:

pumba - Yay for getting airfare booked. One step closer! :thumbsup2

pas - Offsite? I've been pricing both Bonnet Creek and Windsor Hills for us. For the money and the space.

Our best trip yet was when we got the upgrades to the 2br suites. My poor DS6 really needs his private chill out space. Last trip he spent most of our non-sleeping room time coloring in the closet :worried: I think it may be time to trade the rest of the family's wants to give him what he needs.

I looked at some of the DVC properties too, but I don't think I have what it takes to be a renter. I swore after lucking out and getting my NYE non-refunable Dolphin ressie canceled that I wouldn't play with stuff I can't cancel anymore. Somebody please remind of that if I start going down that road! :rolleyes2

Hi to everyone else! I hoe you are all having a great day! :wave2:

I was just thinking about Sarah...
I think the last thing she said to me via post is that she will not update my resort on the 1st page until I had been committed for a week...I've been at YC since 1/1/13....but she didn't get to update me....:guilty:

She put this next to my dates...:confused3

But, in a way, that is kind of funny.

Thanks, Sarah :littleangel:

The bad thing about offsite is there are TOO MANY CHOICES ;)

What happened on the other thread..."rolling up my sleeves and getting out my brass knuckles :cool2:" NOT safe in the water....

I just noticed that I was I unsubscribed for a day... No wonder I didn't have much action yesterday:)

Agreed about the renting points :rotfl: Yes we had a great stay at the Condo and we stayed there for Seaworld...funny enough we were closer to DTD  $99/nt!!!!

Thanks for the suggestions, ladies! :grouphug:

I'm open for any/all to ponder (though I think Vegas is a no-go since we've done that already). Although we HAVE done Seattle before, too. :confused3 Caribbean or Mexico, hmm. :scratchin Someplace warm would be nice. Wish I could change his birthday to over the summer, so we wouldn't have to worry about taking Miss M outta school. We'd love to take her on a road trip like we did pre-kiddo: out west via the Grand Canyon and Utah, then onto California to the Monterrey area. I'd love to take her out to see the otters in the sea. Wait... it was supposed to be about the hubs, right?! I am so all-over-the-place about this trip! :lmao:

Jen: Nope -- not on Halloween! (I wish it was... that would explain a lot of things. :rotfl: Like how he fell for me in the first place.) How FUN that her birthday is on Halloween?! Does she enjoy getting to dress up on her birthday? Tell her I'm envious! ::yes:: :lovestruc

ooooo, I just had another idea. The only problem is it is not in October, but the weekend of Septmeber 28 - 29. During that weekend in Estes Park, CO they have their yearly Elk Festival. It includes a lot of Native American story tellers and a pow wow. My mom and dad go every year. They love it!! The Elks are coming down out of the mountains and just walk through town. Then you could either rent a cabin or stay at the Stanley (the hotel Stephen King wrote The Shining in). My mom and dad stay at a group of cabins and the owners have a yellow lab that is very social and loves spending time with the guests. One of these years, we are going to go. Once I can force the DH to go. He keeps saying that "if I want to see mountains, I'll go to northern CA."

Ladies! :grouphug: It was a thread on the Discount boards about someone complaining about not being able to take his DW and DD to Disney much because they are out pricing everyone. I merely interjected it can be done affordably....but I was waiting to get lambasted. :rolleyes2 I am a bit paranoid about that now! I underestimated the protectiveness of you lovely ladies!

Ironically enough, I was looking at a place called Paradise Palms (?) offsite, it looks nice too! ;) Just looking...:rolleyes1

OK....someone talk me some sense here. I think we really need a dog. :faint: I cannot get it out of my head, and some of you may have seen a thread I started on the community boards where I asked about Beagles. I have been in touch with a man who wants to give one away, a female 11 months old. She is trained, fixed, and he has decided being a single guy that he really has no time for her. So I jumped on the ad and got in touch with him right away. But in the small amount of time I then talked to DH and got back to him, he is now letting someone else her first. :worried:

So, I am waiting to see if he does or doesn't like these people. If he doesn't he said he will get back in touch with me. But even if he doesn't I still feel like the DD's need a dog. We have two cats but DH and I always grew up with dogs too. And birds in my case. But I am not allowed birds right now

Anyhoo, should we get a dog? I figure if I have this much time to waste on the Dis everyday, I could carve out time to take a little pooch for a walk!!::yes::

Opinions???popcorn::

Personally, I think a dog is alot of work. It took DH several years to be able to convince me to get a cat. And, I love our kitty to death!!!

But, a dog needs to be walked, and boarded when you go on vacation...for our cat, my DFIL will just come over and feed him and change his litter box...easy peasy.

I just have no interest in taking care of a dog...but I'm not an animal person...I am truly shocked at how much I love our cat though...

Just a Quick hi to my RC family....life needs to slow down so I can catch up again ;)

3 weeks from tomorrow we will be at CR!!!! I am looking forward to someone else doing all this gluten free cooking/baking for a few days!!!!

Miss you all!
Melissa

I love dogs!! My entire family are big dog people. When my sister was going to Tulane Law School, she worked with a dog rescue group. This was the same group that my mom and dad drove two different times to NOLA from North Texas to get dogs.

Bosco was the first dog they got from NOLA. This is him with JM.
Bosco_zpsa3abd454.jpg

The 2nd dog they got was Maggie May...
Maggie_zpsa867fb9c.jpg

While working for the group my sis and her hubby got two dogs. The first one a baby Beagle they named Holly GoLightly (b/c when they met her she was obsessed with my sister's Breakfast at Tiffany's purse)
Holly_zps6f69b783.jpg

Then they got their 2nd dog and named him Ziggy Stardust..

They recently added Clancy to the mix...

We recently had a birthday lunch for JM and I at my sis' house. More pictures were taken of the dogs than the humans. :lmao:

I'm adding this one because it's just too stinking cute!!
Holly2_zps94abc1c3.jpg

If my sis and her hubby ever go back to Elk Fest with my mom and dad, I get to house sit and dog sit all 5 of these dogs at my sis' house. I'm practically packing her bags for her.

Thanks padawans! I do find myself breaking away after I get back from a trip. I never book a full year out so I always have a lag with no trip planned. I am hoping for 2 trips this year though!

we have a dog that I broke down and got about two years ago. I love him dearly but he is a lot of work. My kids do a great job with him but they still have to be reminded. DS is actually huffing and puffing right now because I made him take the dog out. I think your girls are still really young to be in charge so if you do it, know that you and dh will be doing all the work.

Melissa: Our baking queen! :worship: Ya know ... you mentioning CR got me thinking...

Stay at CR and go to the Halloween party for the hubs' birthday -- is that lame, folks?

Wookie: Shame that fest isn't in Oct -- or during summer -- sounds like a lot of fun! over the doggy pics! You need a hand dog-sitting? Ooooh, that's Clancy the new boy? I'm smitten. :lovestruc We had a neighbor with a wolfhound when I was little; Stanley used to wait by the fence when I'd walk home from school for his daily ear-scratches. Lurved him muchly. Also huge :thumbsup2 for Ziggy's name!

Jen: Our backyard neighbor, one house over, they've got a beagle. Oh boy... with that barking/baying thing he does. :faint: I'm thinking either the lot of them can't hear or are just totally clueless how loud he gets. Anywho, that's my only experience with beagles -- him and the others in the neighborhood that we pass by on walks -- all loud as can be. We're a dog folks too. We got our mutt from a foster family (who works with a rescue which transports dogs from a high-kill shelter in Indiana). She's dumber than a box of rocks but a total SWEETHEART with Miss M (Miss M is her "baby"). I used to volunteer at a local shelter here so I kinda knew what we were after when we started looking: didn't want a puppy, wanted a medium-sized to large fully grown Heinz 57 mutt, submissive. We lucked out with all the fringe benefits: she came totally house and crate trained and despite being 1-2-ish years old, she's a couch potato when she wants to be and a lunatic squirrel chaser the rest of the time. (I won't mention she hates the UPS man, ab.so.lutely. hates. with. a. passion. Not so much the mailman or the Fedex man, but ooooooh boy, when she hears that UPS truck. Totally bats***. :rotfl: ) Can't wait to hear what you decide... popcorn::

Lacey: Hiya! Two trips... yeeeeeah! :woohoo: You and me both... well, maybe me.

CR CL would be awesome!!! I am sure the CL staff will help make a big deal his bday too! My kids seriously dream about CR all the time, lol! I didn't read everyone else's suggestions so I am sure there are better suggestions, lol! Oh and I loved the margaritas yesterday, DD is hysterical!!!

Thanks ladies for your advice.

WookieI love the doggie pics, they are all so precious! And rescue dogs too. That is also what I have been looking into.

Candace: I hear you, it would be a lot of extra work. DH keeps reminding me of that too. He thinks I have lost my marbles to even consider it.:hippie:

Basketlacey: Thanks for the input about the kids helping out. While I think they would be helpful at taking it for short jaunts to the park, they probably won't be too much more help then that! Certainly won't be picking up dog doo doo anytime soon.

DD8 is sick again! It is like the stupid flu came back again. Gotta go tend to her, she's wimpering in her sleep.

Jen I love dogs, but I have to warn you we had a beagle when I was a child, and we had to have it debarked. As you know we rescued a dog a month ago. We haven't had a dog in two years. I love the dog, but it wasn't something I planned. We have no family around to take care of him when we take trips. Even if we did it's a lot to ask of family or friends to watch a dog for a week or two. The dog we have is small enough to fly as a carry on. It's great, but hotels do make you pay a fee. Boarding a dog is expensive. It will cost me 600.00 to board our dog at WDW for 11 nights. I will say we have gotten a lot of joy out of having a dog again. He goes everywhere with us. He sleeps in the kids bed. He jumps up and down and licks me all over when I get home from work. I think he is worth the added travel expenses.

I would think long and hard about the Beagle. They love to howl at the moon all night long.

Ok, I had to come back..

Padawans: Just :faint:!!! I knew you all could provide me with some solid things to think about!

I also wanted to share this....read it on the Allears newsletter. It must be in response to the Newtown tragedy....

"The Jedi Training Academy shows at both Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disneyland have been modified to limit even the pretend threat of violence directed at children. Interactions between Stormtroopers carrying blasters and children participating in the show are limited, and Stormtroopers do not point their weapons at the children. Instead, they deliver the line, "Halt! Put down your weapon," with a raised blaster and outstretched hand. At Disneyland, the Stormtroopers enter with Darth Vader, instead of running through the audience. These changes will remain in effect indefinitely."

Probably a good thing to change this. :(
