...and the winner of the most comfie shoe for WDW is....UPDATED

I happen to be wearing the same exact pair as we speak! One thing about Birkenstocks, though, is if you've never ever worn them before, buying a pair and wearing them around the parks all day will be pretty brutal for someone who's feet are used to sneakers or regular sandals. I've been wearing for years, have 5 pair in my closet, and my feet are used to the soles. If your feet aren't used to the great support Birkenstocks give, they could be uncomfortable and make your feet cramp.

Yep, good point.

OT- I LOVE your siggie picture, Laugh O. Grams

My vote goes for Reebok Princess walking shoes. I think they are the most comfortable shoes on the planet, no seams to rub against my poor arthritic feet!!!LOL!!! I like sandals, and wearing shoes & socks at WDW can get kind of sweaty (I read in these boards about spraying antiperspirant on your feet and I do that at WDW, it works) but I could NEVER wear sandals a full day in the parks. I need that cushioned support. I envy those who can!

Nike Straprunners for me! LOVE them, so comfy and did not get a blister from them. Wore them for 12 days, two years in a row, and they were great. :cheer2:

But, on line, I just bought a pair of Hi-Tec sandals from Shoedini. I wore them around the house on Friday, and yesterday. Today was THE day....I wore them for about 4 hours, and my left foot started to swell. :guilty: Not too bad, but I will keep wearing them in, and hopefully in Nov. they will be broke ALL the way in! ;)

I alternate between my very well worn (3 years plus) leather tevas that I wear constantly and my Nike Air Max tennis shoes. Back in the villa, I wear my also very well worn in Birks.

Seems like alternating morning and night is what helps my feet, both to avoid blisters and just to not hurt.

My winner is my "Birkies". I love my Birkenstock sandals (without a backstrap). They are so comfortable for me. I did have to break them in, though. I think it took about a week.

Easy Spirits win my vote. I am on my feet all day at work, and these are the only shoes I wear. My feet are not tired or sore at all after 8 hours on my feet.

My Tevas by a mile. I tried my Addidas, and my feet held up by I can't take the socks and closed shoes in Fla heat and humidity. DH is the opposite, I am lucky to get sandals on him to go to the pool :teeth:

I've been wearing only Birkenstocks for about 15 months.....I tried TEVA last night because of this board. LOVE THEM! I read a post about getting them wet in the rain. I don't want to get my $110.00 soft suede Birkenstock's soaked. :cool1:

legalslave,

You can find SAS shoes and sneakers at the outlets in Lancaster, Pa. Yes they are expensive but worth the money

kimber1963,

My podiatrist first recommended Easy Spirit to me when I had foot problems. Then he recommended SAS. Sooooo I plan to alternate between the two for our trip.

That's why you need more than 1 pair. I've got a 4 year old pair of the natural color suede that look like they've been through a war! I wear them when I walk the dogs through Central Park. I don't have to worry about stepping in dog poop! :crazy2: Well...I worry, but not about the shoes!

I have 8 pairs  But the soft suede are my favoite. Acutally I just threw my old ones in the trash... they stunk. I'm breaking in a new pair. I have 3 of the Payless ones...I wish I had not bought them. 2 QVC again not as great. 2 Birkenstock Clogs. I know others like the Payless & QVC but I have very fair sensitive skin...my kids love the Payless ones.

I have a pair of Adidas that are sooooooo comfortable. I have also jumped on the Crocs bandwagon, but I haven't worn them to WDW yet. I love my Crocs so much, that I have bought 4 more pairs! I am worried now about the previous posts about Crocs and blisters. I think maybe I will wear my Adidas in the morning, and the Crocs in the evening, as we plan to take it easy in the evenings. :moped:

Yes, I'm a bit worried about my Crocs in the parks, now, based on other's experiences. Guess I'll just have to wait and see! I always bring several different pairs of shoes just in case!

I will also put in a vote for SAS (I had a pair of their sandals I wore for about 10 years, they were wonderful!) and Easy Spirit.

I have two athletic shoes that I like. I think Brooks Ariel is my favorite and a close second is Sacony (I don't remember the model).

I have all kinds of foot problems including arthritis in my feet and these seem to do best. I used to be able to wear Birkenstock for a short time but with the arthritis I can't.
You're the first person I've ever seen (besides me) that wears Brooks Ariel. I love them!! They are soooo comfortable.

Does anyone have any of the sandals from L.L.Beane or Lands End?? Wondering how those would hold up in the parks. I *need* to have a pair that has a back strap.

My vote goes for Nike Shox. I custom built a pair and they feel like socks....breathe and everything...lovely.

Don't forget some good socks people. I'm not talking about any old sox. Goto REI and shell out $12 a pair for some good socks designed specifically for walking long distances. I bought 5 pair of these things and they are amazing....really made a difference. They wick away moisture, are padded in all the right places, and breathe on the top portion of your foot to let the heat out. Socks are just as important as the shoe even though I realize it's hard to spend $12 for a pair of socks.

Teva Stratum for 9 days in a row at WDW (without hardly breaking them in first, too!) and I have found a new favorite! Very squishy soft soles!!! And, believe it or not, my cheapo ($14) Earth Shoe sandal/sneaks from WalMart serve me great at home as well!

I just wanted to warn that these Tula's (licensed by Birkenstock... I think are actually really uncomfortable.) Pay less sells them, need I say more. To add insult to injury though beware of ebayers actually claiming they are Birks, because they are not. The price tag at Pay Less is oh about $15.00 or so. I saw someone actually bid $26.00 for them poor sucker. Beware. You want comfortable get real Birkenstocks hefty price tag but well worth it!
