And the Rain, Rain, Rain Came Down, Down Down - or Oy, Fay! Updated 10/1. The End.

Ponchos on ($4 ones, from Wal-Mart. Where I tend to NOT shop, but Target didn't have enough...)

I personally thought your ponchos were cool cause they buttoned in front and you didn't have to pull them over your head (unless you wanted to).

Maybe this Fay thing won't be so bad after all... :rolleyes1

::yes:: the only good thing about it...

I think Buzz had a "cheeseburger with no cheese" (I don't know where I went wrong with this kid...)

:rotfl:

Next up, my fave, PotC.

I know the ride's not that exciting, even with the additions. But something about that weird coolness, and musty smell, just says "Disney" to me. :lovestruc

::yes::

CE said:
And we sing. ::yes::

:woohoo: I do too but all I know is the chorus part.

Did you get your own boat?

CE said:
They both wanted to ride Pooh (that phrase just makes me giggle)

Here are the boys, all ponchoed up:

Awwwww :goodvibes

Next was a new ride for us, Astro Orbiter. I will say that I enjoyed it more than I figured on.

Yeah Astro Orbiter skeered me a little.:scared: I dunno if it was cause I rode it alone or at night, but I don't see myself riding it again any time soon.

We stopped for a quick classic pic:

Great update CE!

Maybe I'll try there. I hate the Disney poncho I have because the head and neck holes are so small. Or maybe my head is just too big. :confused3
Great picture! :thumbsup2

If this sentence doesn't say tag nothing does. "She looked like she was wrestling an octupus":rotfl2:

:rotfl:

I now probably LOOKED like I was wrestling an octopus under the poncho - fun! :rotfl2:
As Janet said, tag fairy look :rotfl2:

We asked the boys about their first ride of the year. In the pouring rain, why, it's Splash Mountain! :lmao:
Great time to do it, you're wet anyway :rotfl2:

Maybe this Fay thing won't be so bad after all... :rolleyes1
I know it scared some people away, not us tough fockers though huh :rotfl:

Despite the "wheatish" buns (I, like many others, like wheat buns, but these are just weird) we had a good lunch.
They also fall apart :headache:

But before we go to dinner, let's recap: We were in the park for roughly 4 hours, and got all that done, plus lunch. :thumbsup2 I am LIKING Fay!
Fantastic :thumbsup2

Now thanks to the way they have "RE-ENGINEERED" "Splash Mountain:mad: .. I will not ride it unless it is raining... Because Scott will not let me have my poncho:headache: .. and you get DRENCHED waiting for you turn to ascend up while a log is making that BIG DROP:mad:  . You USED to get caught by it occassionally... NOW.. IT IS EVERY TIME.
As CE said it doesn't do that anymore!

Can someone else back me up? For that week, at least?
Same here, never got wet at that bit, I got wettest after the first little drop when it comes up the sides :sad2: :rotfl:

Katt reminded me of something.

They actually HAD seemed to re-engineer Splash Mtn., but my experience was the exact opposite! Never once did anyone I saw or from what I experienced get wet, waiting to go up the ramp whilst a log came down the big drop. D & I both commented that they had turned that jet and we were kind of disappointed. I used to kind of like the "will we or won't we" drama of it, and they have turned it the other way! I swear!

Can someone else back me up? For that week, at least?

When we went in JUNE and JULY this year.. it was EVERY TIME.. and was getting the logs in front and behind us. 2004-2007 you MIGHT catch it .. or just get a sprinkle splash.... now it's like they drop a bucket of water on your log.. :headache: I'm through says I .. Through unless I have my poncho.

ok just read and am all caught up.

great so far. :thumbsup2

looking forward to more.

Hi, Scott, thanks! :goodvibes

Did Fay bring cooler temps too? I hate being in a poncho and sweating. :snooty:

::yes:: It wasn't too hot, either!

Love the picture with you and the boys. Classic and timeless! :cloud9:

Thanks!

Hi I followed you over from the Focker thread. Great TR so far!! The boys are adorable, you have a beautiful family. It is amazing how much stuff you got done in one afternoon.

I can't wait to read morepopcorn::.

Hi, Tracy, thanks for coming over! :goodvibes

I personally thought your ponchos were cool cause they buttoned in front and you didn't have to pull them over your head (unless you wanted to).

::yes:: And when it stopped for a bit, you could open up and get a little breeze. But more will come where it might have been nice to have them tighter around the neckline... :rolleyes1

You know, I don't know if we were alone, but we were in the front row. Poor people behind us! :rotfl:

Great update CE!

Thanks!

They were cheap and they worked, can't do better than that!

Great picture! :thumbsup2

Thanks!

Great time to do it, you're wet anyway :rotfl2:

I guess so!

I know it scared some people away, not us tough fockers though huh :rotfl:

Nope!

As CE said it doesn't do that anymore!

Same here, never got wet at that bit, I got wettest after the first little drop when it comes up the sides :sad2: :rotfl:

Thank goodness - I knew I wasn't making this up!

I guess you'll just have to go again, because Jo and Janet (somehow missed quoting her - sorry, Janet) agree with me! ;)

And trust me, though she didn't get out much, Flat Katt was with me all day, every day!

*I have to apologize for a dearth of pictures on this update. It was raining. Getting the camera out was hard, and also dangerous to the camera's life.
BELIEVE me, I understand this one! (more ont hat to come... whenever I fainlly get around to this trip in my TR. ;) )

Despite the "wheatish" buns (I, like many others, like wheat buns, but these are just weird)
Bleeehhhh "crazy2:
The veggie burger was probably kind of blah, but I topped with grilled mushrooms, and possibly some cheese sauce... :rolleyes1
Dude, I'd eat cardboard if it were drenched in cheese sauce! Of course, veggie burgers aren't so far off... :rotfl: (I can say this as a frequent consumer of veggie burgers, dogs, nuggets and ribs!)

I asked Buzz what HE wanted to do next.

"The Tiki Room".

Huh? How does he even KNOW about this?
:rotfl2:

:woohoo: Nothing would make me happier!!!

Great update, CE! The ponchos are so annoying. But, it's better than being drenched, so we deal...

Gus loves the Tiki birds. It's his favorite. And the scariest part of Astro Orbitor is the line!

Me, too - on both counts. I'll eat anything with cheese, and I eat a lot of fake meat. But almost always with cheese on it. :rotfl2:

:woohoo: Nothing would make me happier!!!

It was true that week, at least. ;)

::yes:: And we were put on the elevator in maybe 2 minutes! :cool1:

Sounds like a pretty good afternoon at MK! :thumbsup2 And might I say, you look very stylish in your blue poncho. :goodvibes Nothin' better than a little hurricane to clear out the parks! :rotfl:

Can't wait for more! popcorn::

I would like to see you re-enact your Octupus under a blue tarp dance.
:lmao:

I have to say the crowds were low that week:thumbsup2

You did get some nice pics in though.

Anyway, Lessa has over 2000 pics for us to look at so don't feel bad.

We were there in the outer bands of Wilma in 2005 and they had that jet turned off. I don't know why, everyone is already wet. I do remember a wet rainy cold weekend in Jan a few years ago when it was off, it needed to be that day we were already freezing.

Loving your report, really neat that you ran into T in the airport, what a magical way to get a trip started. I'm hoping you have some rain pictures to post I love WDW in the rain.
Lynn

:woohoo: Nothing would make me happier!!!

It takes us fellow Floridians to say we hate that part of Splash Mtn and are happy if it's gone.
BTW I rode Splash with Mel, Bob and Allyson and it didn't Splash us, which I was thankful for.

Why, thank you! :goodvibes

I'm surprised I didn't do it in Germany, just sayin... ;)

Ah, so maybe it IS indeed weather related! :thumbsup2

Thanks, Lynn! And welcome! :goodvibes And there will likely be some rain pictures. We did take nearly 400 in the long run.

Yes, I usually like the drama of it! ;)

hey, it's only fitting!!! you're already wet, why not! :rotfl:

Maybe this Fay thing won't be so bad after all... :rolleyes1

maybe not! no wait in august?? does it make up for having to walk around in the rain??

We were all a little hungry - breakfast had been several hours away back at the airport - and so we decided to hit Pecos Bill's. It's not my fave, but it's got good kid options on the DDP, so in we went.

my kids love pecos bills! i agree, food is so-so.

and had NO line,

again, no lines?? wow!

But something about that weird coolness, and musty smell, just says "Disney" to me.

ITA!!

Flat Katt is on your left, Flat Rachel on the right.

WOOOO WHOOOO!! HEY KATT, WE MADE IT TO FOCKER FEST!!!! THANK YOU CE!!!!:goodvibes

Here are the boys, all ponchoed up:
IMG_3163.jpg

looks like the rain isn't bothering them at all!!

awwwww, that's a good pic!

great!!! now, i want more!!! popcorn::

When last we left you, we were heading out of MK for our ADR. It was a new one for us from last year - Chef Mickey's! :cool1:

Now, I know some of you will be shocked, but we had no time last year to resort hop, relax, anything, so we had never been on the Monorail, let alone to the Contemporary... :rolleyes1

I wasn't sure how long it would really take, so we left at 4:30 for a 5:15 ADR. We did manage to get right on the Monorail (and the RIGHT monorail) so that was good. D & I sang the "Monorail" bit from The Simpsons over and over and over... :rotfl:

We wandered through the construction bit at the Contemporary and found the CM check in line. It was HUGE! Ah, here are all the people! ;)

But the line moved quickly, and we were quickly led off, with a buzzer, for the photo shoot.

Um, yeah. We were wet and tired, and it was probably the WORST picture I've seen of any of us in a long, long time. :lmao:

But we were buzzed whilst we were next in line for the pic, so we were seated right away. We were in the buffet area itself, right at tables next to the food. Woohooty! :rotfl:

Our server came right over and took our drink orders. I think D got a beer, but I decided I had to try the glow-tini I'd heard so much about. ;)

The characters started coming out pretty much right away, as did our drinks. :thumbsup2

Goofy was first:
IMG_3171.jpg

After Goofy, it looked like a lull, so D took the boys to scope out the buffet. They started in the middle of the buffet, but Buzz got away from D because he'd seen something D & Woody hadn't - Minnie:
IMG_3172.jpg

Just after she left, Woody realized that he'd missed her and came running back to the table, just wailing. He was getting tired, I know, and she had assured me with her sign language that she'd be back.

Sigh.

Once that crisis was over, the boys went back to get all their food. I think they both got some Mickey shaped mac & cheese, and maybe some of the roast chicken. I think Woody tried some of the salmon as well, and maybe Buzz had some chicken tenders and roast beef? At any rate, there was more than enough to keep them happy.

D & I then took our turns, and we were also pretty thrilled. I had some amazing ravioli with cream sauce, and also the salmon, plus salad and shrimp/pasta salad and mashed potatoes... YUMMO!

And the characters kept coming:
IMG_3180.jpg

IMG_3186.jpg

Goofy came by again?
IMG_3189.jpg

And finally Minnie came back:
IMG_3194.jpg

The boys were THRILLED with the characters, and the Goofy was particularly "on". They were also very happy with the sundae bar. I had some sort of Oreo Mousse dome dealies that were really good!

Flat Katt & Flat Rachel must have drunk all my glow-tini! :headache: :rotfl:
IMG_3190.jpg

I found it to be just "eh" - but I don't like overly sweet drinks. The glow cube is fun, though! :thumbsup2

Happily full, and having seen everyone we needed to see, we paid up and headed out. Oh, and I tipped REALLY well, because I had the two checks - one for the DDP and one for the drinks. I hadn't realized that the drink bill was also on the DDP bill for tip figuring purposes, so I tipped on the full check total AND the drink only bill. Oh well. The server was good, so... :rotfl:

Out we went... On to... :rolleyes1

ETA: I also forgot to mention that I had called (before the food and drinks came - I promise I don't tend to use cell phones in restaurants, but there was no one next to us yet) and of course by now our new room was ready. I wrote down the number and thought, "Hmmm...." ;)

Dude...I was totally first!!! Right on!!! :teeth:

:lmao: Glad that Minnie found her way back to the table or you would have had one crushed little boy on your hands.

Those Mickey Oreo domes always look so good! I really must try one one of these days.

ohhh, i love chef mickey's!!!!!
those pic of the boys with the characters are sooo cute :cutie:
sorry about drinking the glow-tini. i thought it was a bit sweet too!!! try the margirita next time!:lmao:
