Okey, ANY stay in an OKW GV is marvelous, and this one was no exception! We had 12 people for an extended "family" (theirs, not mine) trip for some very dear friends and had a blast! We did lots of cooking to save money for those who couldn't afford to feed all the kids at WDW prices, but that too lead to some great fun times. Each family group prepared one main meal during the trip. The elder family members took DH and I out for a thank you dinner once at Teppanyaki dinning rooms. They are all helping me move into the new log home in a couple of weeks in thanks as well!
We didn't even attempt to stay together all the time, but did try to start out each day at the attractions that were particularily important for us to experience together.
Now for the surprise! I rarely, if ever, say much negetive about OKW, but I do have a few things this time. (I know, don't faint!)
I did not recall the last time we stayed in a GV that the kitchen sink was jammed up against a corner! This one was not centered on the window, and it was very hard to get at it if anyone else was working at the center island. I had another minor gripe too. It seems that in an effort to refurbish, OKW has chosen to change out the sleeper sofas, but not the love seat! This meant they didn't match. I thought it looked pretty tacky to have them be different fabrics. Then there was the forrest green area rug in the living room....??? Last time we had a beautiful floor cloth that matched the key west decor of soft pastels. This dark rug and miss matched furniture reminded me a bit of a Mom and Pop place that couldn't afford to stick to the decorating theme. I was pretty disappointed in that. I had forgotten about how the GV master bath differed from the 1/2 bedroom master. I liked the slightly larger shower, but missed the storage in the vanity and thought the little water closet rooms was awkward. I had also forgotten how LARGE the master bedroom was in the GV! It must be at least 2 feet deeper than the 1/2 bedroom masters.
BTW, we were in 1523, so it was one of the oldest buildings. It was so nice to see they have kept the silk plants in those!
