We had this tradition growing up, and I continued it with my girls. Even though they are older teens now, they still expect to find their Christmas Eve pajamas under the tree.
We didn't do this growing up, but when my step-dad got remarried his new wife did and I absolutely love it! Her mom actually gets jammies for all of her kids and grandkids and from the moment step-dad and new wife got married, that meant me too (really stand-up woman ).
So once I got married DH and I started doing this as well. Christmas just seems the perfect time for new jammies. It's nice to curl up with a cup of hot cocoa or cider and look at your Christmas tree all lit up with brand new pjs on.
Thanks for posting this! Since DH and I don't have kids, we're kinda spotty with the traditions. Adding pjs to the shopping list!
This is something we do every year...they girls get to open one gift Cmas Eve and it is always pjs lol. Thankfully they like clothes and don't complain.
Always do this-this is the one gift they can open on Christmas Eve.
It cracks me up that they love it, but they do!
I already bought my daughter her pair, can't find one for DS that I like, yet.
Growing up we always got pajamas on Christmas Eve. They always coordinated and looked nice in the pictures of opening presents on Christmas morning.
Now we spend Christmas Eve at my parents home. They give the kids their pajamas and we exchange family gifts. The kids change into their new pajamas for the ride home and wear them all Christmas day.
My mom always bought us very Christmas-y ones, but she's been buying more generic winter styles for the grandchildren.
My kids also have received slippers for St. Nicholas Day. They're supposed to get something (ours each get an ornament for the tree) in their shoes, but usually the ornaments have been left in new slippers.
Thanks for the reminder!!! Its not Christmas morning here without a fresh new pair of jammies on the kids. I on the other hand sleep every night in a pair of running pants and a t-shirt. Works out well since almost every morning I get on the treadmill!! LOL
I'm 51 and still get a new nightgown from my DM for Christmas! Her DM started the tradition we we were little. Christmas Eve was always at DGM's and she would get us pjs and we would wear them home so we could get to bed quicker! My DM continued the tradition until the grandkids were teens, stopped for a while then started again when some of the DGD's asked for them again. Now she buys new pjs for the great grand kids too!
No we didn't do this growing up but I am going to do that with DS starting this year!! He loves Jammies so I will get some warm fleece ones with Snowflakes on them for him. The Children's Place has some good ones, I don't know if they still have the matching adult ones.
my parents always did this for my Dsis & I.
we're 19 and 20 now she we don't do that anymore,
but i plan on carrying on the tradition when i have kids someday!
it was always so fun for us to get our new jammies and take our picture in front of the christmas tree with our cookies for santa
