I can't believe it's finally here. We leave for the airport in just a few hours.
"Donald" (a beloved cousin in Fl who does a great imitation) called dd's 9 & 11 last evening to invite them to DW.
At first they wouldn't believe it, until I finally said "we're going to Disney World". DD11 had tears in her eyes, and the little one was speechless. Then I gave them their travel journals, and you would have thought I gave them a million dollars. DD9 said "mom, I can't believe you did this for us. You're the greatest mom in the world" Now who had tears in her eyes?!
In spite of DD11 wanting to stay at a monorail resort (little snob!), when I showed them pics of POFQ, they love it already - especially the pool - which to them is all that really counts!
They screamed even louder when I told them we rented a convertible for our day trip to the beach on Sunday. Tween girls - go figure
Then of course, they had to call everyone in the world. They recognized our cousins voice, but that's OK. They appreciated the effort we all made for them. When they went to bed last night, they said "you set this up with Gary a long time ago didn't you?" I said "of course!"
As I folded clothes last night, we watched a show on Discovery that I had taped a few weeks ago. I was impressed - made just this year, as it showed some of the new attractions, Cindy's castle apartment, and the updated POTC. If you haven't seen it, try to catch it, it's great!
Their reaction last night was worth every penny we have spent and will spend on this trip. I told dh that this is one trip that will always stick in their memories.
THANK YOU to all DISers for your help planning this special trip. Thanks for putting up with my sometimes stupid questions, and for your kind responses. And thanks to those with whom I engaged in that wonderful debate about the religious skywriter. I doubt any of us changed each others mind, but it was a great exchange of thoughts and ideas. As I said in that thread, it is so great to engage in civilized debate for once without stooping to insults and accusations.
I guess I'd better go pack now
. Everthing is ready, I just need to put it in their respective suitcases. I'll be going offline shortly. Debated taking my laptop with me, but, knowing how our trips are, I won't have the time or energy to post, send pictures, or anything computer-related. I'll be back next week with a wonderful, fun-filled trip report!
