When I left off last we had just arrived at Epcot!!
We walk past England
and head to Mexico.
Supper is to be had at San Angel Inn tonight! Keith had wanted to eat here in July but we couldnt fit it in. He really likes the places with atmosphere so this one fits the bill! I had made the ADR for 5pm so we could go to ESPN Club to watch Sunday Night football with The Saints and Broncos. But the Saints season was not going to Keiths satisfaction and decided we would not go to ESPN Club. This nights ADR was changed so many times with times and places but basically these places were included in the many changes: San Angel Inn, ESPN Club, Biergarten and Coral Reef. In the end I wish that for this night I had gone with Coral Reef. Why? Well lets take a walk down memory lane and see what we can find out about our meal!
We arrive at the podium 10 minutes early and are given a buzzer. Before we sit down good the buzzer begins well, buzzing and we are taken to a table. The tables are extremely close. So close in fact that I was closer to the man sitting next to me than my own husband sitting at my table!!
We get our menus and begin perusing the choices. Keith proceeds to ask why we are here not much to eat of interest. Now you have to understand that Keith doesnt like to discuss the plans ahead of time. He tells me whatever but this particular place... from day one of planning the trip he had said he wanted to eat. This was one I never considered marking off the list when doing my multiple changes.
Well, as we look at the menu the wonderful chips and salsa are brought out as well as our drinks: Michelob for Keith and Jalapeno Margarita for me.
The margarita is one I had read about on several TRs and wanted to give it a shot. It is delicious but it is very potent!! One was definitely my limit since I dont drink very much at all. Thankfully I was able to handle one but if I had ordered two I may have needed help exiting!
We still are discussing what to order. I had planned on this to be out-of-pocket since I had planned a 2 credit TS later in the week for my birthday. But as we discuss everything I decide we will cancel the 2 credit place and use a TS credit here and make a new ADR at another 1 credit TS for Wednesday. I have two or three places in mind.
For Wednesday I had wobbled between Artist Point and Hollywood Brown Derby. I decided on Artist Point. Then I had time to mull everything over and all of my indecisions made me change to the Brown Derby. Then I thought What if we need a 1 credit place? so I made an ADR for Yak and Yeti (yes I had two ADRs at one time for Wednesday evening
). Well right before the trip knowing I needed to cancel one, I cancelled Yak and Yeti even though people on Liners had given me rave recommendations for trying. That left me with the Brown Derby which will now be cancelled. Did you follow all of that?! Seriously, that is the turmoil I had going on for 6 weeks leading up to this trip and not just for one meal time but every single ADR except Monday night!
Okay so now I have a choice between Yak and Yeti, Biergarten or Coral Reef for our final night. Ill let you mull that one over! But now back to this meal! Now that we have decided to use our TS credit, we have an entrée and dessert to decide on!
We both go with what I had planned to order all along: Carne Asada a la Tampiquena.
This entrée consists of a grilled beef tenderloin served with a cheese enchilada (which is like 1 ½ inches long), black refried beans, red bell pepper , onion, Mexican rice and guacamole.
After all of the turmoil and indecision because there wasnt much that appealed to us, the food came out, we dove in and it was very delicious! We made an excellent choice! The food was very filling as well.
Our server was fairly attentive. He did disappear at one point but it was all good. Aside from the closeness of the tables and the lack of choices, we enjoyed our meal. We probably will return one day but this is not a table service restaurant we would put on our Top 10 list!
For dessert we had the Crema Bavaria mousse with mixed berries, cinnamon and orange liqueur and I think I had a cheesecake type of dessert but I no longer see it on the menu. I tried both and they both were very good!!
Being completely stuffed, we decided to head out and wander a bit. The crowds were crazy which I had anticipated due to it being a weekend and the Food and Wine Festival was going on. I never intended on us doing much on Sunday night at Epcot due to the many recommendations to avoid Epcot on the weekends during the festival.
The evening was beautiful!!
We make our way to the cranberry bog which is super cool! We enjoyed looking at it although the light was waning on us.
We headed in the direction of Mission Space and I really do not know why. I want to say I went into Mousegears and made a purchase. After missing out on several souvenirs I wanted I knew not to say I would be back. I took advantage of every chance to purchase what I wanted! I am thinking that while I was shopping Keith sat on a bench in front of Electric Umbrella and maybe went to the restroom close to Test Track. I say all of this because I know while I was looking for him, I took these photos:
I am not the same having seen the moon shine on the other side of the world.

Those pictures are the only thing that gives me a clear memory of what I think occurred!
We were getting tired by this point and decided to just call it a day. It was around 7pm but we figured we could catch the game at the resort.
As we exited the park I took a few shots of the huge glowing ball!
Once back at the resort, we ran into the food court to get our beverage mug and some hot chocolate.
Before long we were in our room watching the Saints blow it against the Broncos. Keith looked at me and said Glad we didnt go somewhere special to watch this and proceeded to change the channel.
We ended the night watching a show about people house hunting in Alaska. Keith loves Alaska since he went many times while in the Air Force. The show is like House Hunters but in the first episode the hubby wants to move to Alaska to raise sled dogs. This means needing a certain type of land area. They find three potential homes. These homes are in ALASKA and have no running water, no indoor bathrooms and two did not have a kitchen with one having a camp kitchen and another having a kitchen under a shed outside with no walls in ALASKA!!!!!
There was one with a semblance of a kitchen and an indoor bathroom with potable water. Oh and the electricity was provided by a generator. I began saying my thankful prayers that I have indoor plumbing and running water that doesnt have to be boiled and a kitchen that doesnt require layers of clothing to go outside in the winter. Well, that was off topic but as I remembered this evening I couldnt NOT mention this!
We had a great first day!! It was relaxed and it definitely had a go with the flow spirit to it. The next day follows suit. And our only plan is Hoop Dee Doo at 8pm so that gives us a whole day to look at one another and say So, honey, whatchawanna do?!
