Hi all.

I'm planning our DLR trip for the end of August. We will have 5 park days and 2 'off' days...Thinking one of these will be a beach day...The other one - I'm debating. I saw someone mention this tour in another thread and I think that many aspects of it will appeal to my family (me, dh, ds14 and dd12). But it seems SO LONG, even to me, that I'm thinking my kids will be about ready to expire by the end. It says 8:30 - 6:30 on the web site.

Can anyone tell me if you've done this tour with kids in the past? And what was the feeling on it afterward?

Thanks!

We live in L.A. and my kids are 10 and (almost) 13. I checked out the website to see what's included on the tour. Holy moly -- that is a lot to get through in one day! My own kids, I think, would tolerate the day for me, but wouldn't be interested in Beverly Hills or the stars homes. Or downtown L.A., for that matter. Carney's is good for lunch, and The Chinese Theater, Hollywood and Highland, Hollywood sign and, to some degree, WB Studio Tour would be good. I think if I really wanted to do it, I'd pack headphones and electronics for my kids. There's going to be a lot of travel time, so if they could zone out for some of that I think they'd be okay.

Have you checked Trip Advisor? I use their reviews when we're traveling. Good luck!

What is the name of this tour?

It's the Warner Bros Combo Tour

I agree that's a LOT to see in one day. If possible I recommend choosing a shorter tour that includes only a few stops you'd be interested in seeing. Or just rent a car and do your own touring. For kids I think you could just do the Warner Bros Tour, California Science Center, and the Griffith Observatory.

We're just doing the three hour Warner Brother's studio tour. We have a rental car and are after flying into LA staying in the Hollywood area, doing some LA things arrival day and the day after and then heading to Anaheim for Disneyland and California adventure. We have a rental car and for our full day are doing the studio tour, the Griffith Observatory, and then the Santa Monica pier. Arrival day we're checking out the Chinese theatre, max museum, and walk of fame.

We just did the 3hr WB Studio Tour in March and it was perfect for my 13yo dd. We got to see the interior sets of Big Bang Theory and Pretty Little Liars...we don't watch either. We are huge Gilmore Girls fans and were hoping to see some of those exterior sets, but it was all closed off for the filming of the new shows. Still, it was pretty fascinating. There is a TON of Batman stuff (and our guide was a HUGE FAN of Batman, so I expect we heard more than usual) and Harry Potter stuff. We are not fans of either. Ha! But, still we really enjoyed the tour and would go again in hopes of seeing the GG stuff. Last summer we drove ourselves to Hollywood and did the Chinese Theater/handprints/etc and that was fun for about an hour. I don't think dd would have been all that interested in a full day tour, but it might depend on if your kids are really fascinated by what will be seen!
