My DH, DS (2) and I will be in California in February. We aren't renting a car and are planning on using the ART (Anaheim Resort Transportation) from our hotel (Embassy Suites Anaheim South). Anyone have experiences using the ART that they can share- this will be new for us?

Thanks!

We had a great experience with ART during our vacation in July. We stayed at the Homewood Suites. The bus picked us up right outside our hotel. We had a few stops both going to and coming from Disneyland, but I'd say it took us 10-15 minutes either way. We took the 7 am bus the first morning we were there and were in line at security before 7:20 am (park opened at 8 am that day). We were able to buy our daily ride tickets at the hotel desk, but I know that some hotels have kiosks where you can buy them as well.

The bus seemed to run pretty on time. I think the longest we ever waited was 15 minutes and that was one afternoon leaving the park. We never had to wait for another bus due to crowds, although DH and I did stand for part of one trip until the bus cleared out a bit.

The cost was about the same as parking for us (we had two adults and three kids) but honestly we loved not having to drive to and from the parks. Our kids looked at riding the bus as just part of the experience - my three year old called it the Artsy Bus. At the end of a long day at the parks it was nice to get on an air conditioned bus and let someone else drive us back to the hotel.

I know there are people who don't like ART, but our experience was great. The drivers we had were all courteous and patient as we scanned all our cards and were very helpful.

Have a great trip!

Thanks for the reply! We aren't renting a car and are set on using ART, so I am glad to hear that you had a good experience. It has been a long time since I have been to DLR (since 2002!!!!!) so I feel like a newbie again LOL!

We have used it also :) spring break this year and in June. I like it, for what it is :) works well on time for us. Saved our feet :thumbsup2
just be sure to get a multi day pass, saves $
I have parking with my AP and we always have my car too, I just find the ART system easier :)

I used ART for the first time on my August trip; I found it to run according to schedule & be a great help getting to and from the Parks and my hotel. The only thing I'd warn of is that, if you're staying within walking distance to the Park & want to be there right when it opens, your best bet would be to walk. Oh, and the last ART bus of the night was PACKED on all the days we were there, so you may want to plan on taking an earlier bus when you're done at the Park for the day. Other than that, I *loved* ART, and found it to be a great deal, money-wise, and it really saved my feet!

We used it in Oct. 2005. It was a breeze except the crowds leaving the park at closing. We were at the Hampton Inn & Suites. This next trip we may or may not use it since we are about a 10-15 minute walk and would have to lug a double jogging stroller on and off the bus. My mom may take my older two on it, while DH and I enjoy a peaceful walk with the little ones. We'll see who gets there first!!

I usually use the ART. It is easy and timely. Just watch to see the schedule and remember they generally run every 20 minutes.

I have had a couple bad experiences though... mostly where the bus did not show up. I'm sure there was a logical explanation though. The only inexcusable incident, was with a elderly ART driver who obviously should not have had a license to drive a vehicle that large. There were several close calls, involving children, cars and other ART busses. I was very happy to not have seen him on that route again.

All in all, I enjoy using the ART and will continue to do so when needed.
